ID help please

Thank y'all very much for being patient with this newbie. My Sibley bird book was late in getting shipped so I still have trouble IDing these birds. I shot this today at a lake near my house (Houston, TX area). Please ID for me. I bought an older, manual focus Sigma 400mm f/5.6 lens on eBay for $75 and that is what I used on this shot. Nikon D90 camera.

Hi Chris, It looks like a Common Moorhen.

Yes, I agree. Chris you should have Purple Gallinules in your area also. They would be found in the same type of habitat.

I sure hope to see one of those Purple Gallinules but have not yet.
