Candled my eggs today

(Zone 7b)

I know it's a day early but i have alot to do tomarrow and won't have time to do it.

Well out of 49 that i set theres 22 infertile that leaves me with 27. My Temp has been at a steady 99.5 Brower and 100-101 Acu the blanket has made a world of difference.
Humidty has fluctuated a good bit ranging from low 40s to 52% and i've added water a few times to try and keep it at a stable % with no luck??
All fertile eggs were in very good condition with active embryos only maybe 3 or 4 were maybes as the dark shell obscured my seeing clearly.
I exspected there would be a good many infertiles as roos are just not at their best this time of year. I had some blue millies that were fertile and some not this tells me my roo is favoring a hen.
Now none of my crelle were fertile will be looking at the show for a new roo. Also none of my Barred rocks were fertile may look at a new roo for that too.
Will give another update 7 days on Jan 22 can't do it on 23 thats my birthday i will be takeing the day off.

Jean Marie i forgot to take a pic i will next week the embryos should show up better then ^_^

Is this like where's Waldo? I just see a glowing orange egg.

Oh thats a pic of an egg i did for JeanMarie couple weeks back to show her what a clear egg would look like when candled.
Sorry for any confusion just wanted a pic to go with the thread.

LOL no wonder I couldn't find Waldo. Not that that's anything new. I never find Waldo unless a kidling helps me.

What kind of candler do you have, Harmony? I tried last year using a flashlight with a cardboard tube but no luck! I tried on my Khaki Campbell eggs. I ended up giving these ducks to my neighbor and it turns out the male is infertile. I don't think that happens very often but I guess sometimes it does.

Sue i use a Mini Mag light to me it's the best i can clearly see the veins at 6 days.
I just go in the darkest room in my house which is my bathroom and put it on spot i put it directly on the top of the egg. The light shines right thru the egg you can see in the pic how good it does. I've tried other things but this has worked best for me.

Brown and Dark Brown eggs are difficult to see thru.

So Harmony, was the 23 day old egg in there? Was it okay?
I'm just starting to gather my own fertile eggs and was curious.. I hope it was okay!

Thanks Harmony. I used a larger flashlight so the beam probably wasn't as concentrated.

ZZ the 23 day old Egg was infertile sorry BUT! there was a 14 day old egg that was developeing.
I will have to try this old egg experiment again when all my roos are up to doing their job.

I have known for at least 2 years about the wrapping in plastic wrap to extend setting dates up to 3 weeks.
But just decided to do this experiment this year still a 14 day old egg developeing is a good sign it works.
I had previously did it setting a hen and the oldest i hatched was 13 days old and i had wrapped them in plastic wrap.

If it was spring i wouldn't have had so many infertiles.

Sue the mini mag light puts the light right on the egg if you twist it till it's a spot.
