I got my new backpack designed for the big Nikon lens yesterday so I packed it up with my Nikon D90, Nikon 500mm f/4 P lens, monopod, and my new carbon fiber tripod with heavy duty ball head and went to a lake near my house in the Houston, TX area. I had a little trouble tweeking the manual focus but managed to get a few keeper shots and some so-so shots. I would really appreciate any help on IDing these birds. One shot is not too hot but I did not have too much time to take a shot of the big bird.
Thanks,
Chris

Great shots, funny about the plane's passenger.
Thanks linthicum!
Ditto to Linthicum.
Bet that copilot was busy reporting you to the police for suspicious activity near an airport ;-)

Uhh Ohh! It really does!
LOL!!!
I live near a small airport and they are used to seeing my better side as I bend over for flower macros. They do fly out of their way to fly over me in the canyons. My telephoto is maybe a third the size of yours, more like a pea-shooter!
