markleysburg, PA(Zone 5a)

While in Texas I found small somewhat tricornered bulbs alongside of plant with heavy light green curved down and inward leaves. No flowers apparent then. Small bulbs like onion plants styarting to grow out of the original bulb? What? Hardy? Colors?Propogation by planting bulbs? Thanks anyone original plants were about two or more feet high.

It sounds like wild garlic to me. They have white, or pink and white blooms in early spring, then the bulbs form. Break off a piece and see if it smells slightly of garlic. I use wild garlic in salads, spaghetti sauce, to fry with fish - it's quite tasty.

Hi Kay dont think so. These are large plants mabe three feet high and with leaves about two feet long nd two inches plus wide. Thanks Shirley

There are several Allium species which reach at least the heights and leaf size you describe. A. giganteum, A. macleanii, A. rosenbachianum, A. sativum (Garlic) along with many cultivars. All will have the typical oniony garlic scent when the leaves are crushed.
