My heart's joy, Reynard, left on the next leg of his journey two weeks ago today. I posted about him here and on the Southwest Forum where I mentioned that I wanted to find a heart for his cremains. Ann (tetleytuna) sent me a note offering a little heart purse that she had made. I knew from her description that it had taken a lot of time and talent to make and I was reluctant to take something so special. But it is unique and so was Reynard so I accepted. I am happy that I did. It is really beautiful. Now the little boy who had such a terribly defective heart - but one that was so big and full of love - can rest in this little deep red velvet box studded with tiny rhinestones.
The box doesn't have a fastener so, as I told Ann, I will look for a crystal heart to hang over the front so it stays closed. I wanted to get the picture up so I hung a silver earring over it (with a non-matching gold chain!) so I could post this. The photo is taken on the edge of the flower bed where Reynard was first spotted. It is full of nasturtiums now and he would have loved it. I will always think of him whenever I'm near that bed. In the meantime, he will be near me in this lovely reminder of how kind a person you have never met can be.
Thank you, Ann. Bless you and everyone who loves animals enough to understand how important they are in life and in death.
