I have heard people saying they have dust baths in thier coops. What exactly do you use and how does this work. My girls love to hang in the garden and thier yard when the ground is dry and bath themselves. It would be nice to have one indoors though..... Not sure if things will ever dry up around here!!

Hi Karbear: Just build a cheap wooden box about 14 x18 and fill it about 6-8 inches deep with well burned wood ashes. They will have a blast with it. Yes they do scatter the ashes but come on they make a mess of everything don't they? that size will allow two or three at a time to use it and they will take turns. Haystack.
I've heard that you can put thier mite powder in this. Is that right? Ashes really?
You won't need the mite powder with the ashes. That is what I use to treat mine with.
what about scaly leg mites?
