Scindapsus "Silver Cloud"?

Gainesville, FL

I have grown Scindapsus pictus (aka Silver Pothos) for years. but while I was at Walmart of all places getting zone Coconut Crunch Zone Bars I saw some hanging baskets of what looked to be "BIGGER" S. pictus.

I remembered someone sending me a photo of this plant and calling it S. pictus 'Silver Cloud'.

Is this a valid ID?

The leaves are quite a bit larger than the S.pictus I have and the variegation pattern is somewhat different.

It was a little beat up, they haven't been paying a lot of attention to their outdoor stuff there ever since the main nursery lady, a very sweet lady from Cuba, died a few years ago, but for $6 I decided to rehab it.

That was a great find especially for Wal-Mart. For me, this is a slow growing plant so it's great to see a large basket of it. I'm not sure of the name but it is one of the rarer ones.

Walmart here can be very surprising at times, LOL. So can HOme Depot and Lowes. This one is definitely different from the regular S. pictus, which I have growing all over my greenhouse. The leaves are bigger and broader, and the markings have a subtle difference

goth, I think they're different. I was at HD yesterday and they had pothos that had a reddish/pinkish tint to it, one of those Angel plants. However, the plants were so sickly I didn't think I could revive them. Have never seen your "big" one, or one w/ reddish tint. I have the silver pothos and it is an easy plant.

goth, this is the plant I was talking about that I saw at HD. It has a red tint to it. I decided to get one today, even though I stll think it looks puny. I will try to repot and see if I can improve its health. It looks like yours, except that instead of having silver markings, it has an overall red tint to it.

I myself would have called this a "pothos", but I see that in the PF it's called Philo, then again, botanital nomenclature is above my head a lot of times.

Oh yeah! I have that. It is a philo. Its a micans ssp micans. The 'regular' micans is all green, this one has a velvety look and a deep reddish color. Let me see if I have a photo of some of mine...it runs all over the greenhouse. One thing about this philo...if you let it climb, the leaves will get a lot bigger, larger than your hand but not HUGE. But a lot bigger than when you first get it in the little pot

to my untrained eye, the shape and velvety feel of scindapsus is the same as the philo micans. I would have thought the reddish one was another scindapsus, rather than a philo. The plant naming folk are determined to confuse the heck out of me, lol

here is my puny p. micans from HD. I do love its red tint.

Get it into some really bright light, like through a window. I have one that started out just like that, and it has just about taken up my bathroom window. The brighter the light the more the red color comes out.

Awww, vossner, it's so cute!

I bought this one last fall and put it on a plant stand in the corner under a lamp. It has gone wild, attached itself to the wall and has gone behind the blind.

here is a close up of the leaf, you can see it behind the blind.

Linda, I hope you post those pics in the PF if you havent already. they're amazing

Vos, I have not but I will. I do love the leaf on this one. I've taken a few cuttings but they don't root easily. I'll keep trying. It's like there are little suction cups on the stem that sticks it to the wall. It goes all the way to the top of the window and across.
