ok...That's a bromelaid.....Air plants as I know them are smaller...and literally grow off the sides of the Oak Trees here....I could literally go pick 20 "Air Plants" of off the Oak trees I have in a 1/4 acre area. And most w/ a bloom spike.

Synda,
I'll go see what's out there tomorrow when it's daylight. These are small, sorta a "miniature". Where you are they would be a house plant. You could put them outside in the middle of summer. They would need strong filtered sun. Mount on a Fern Bark board/plank. (like you would an orchid) NOT hardy for your zone. Let me know and I'm sure I can work something out for you.

I wrote an article on these recently.

Haha...dutchlady1, I pull them off the oak trees and throw them down w/ the Spanish moss and use as "Mulch" around my Tender Perennials. I remember when I was a kid and came down to Florida to stay w/ my sister and I would take them home w/ me a and stick them under my Plant lights w/ my African Violets. And now they are almost a "weed" (albeit an unusual weed.)

here is an article on basic info on Tillandsia, they are a variety of bromelaids, need no soil, glue or wire them on cork, board, driftwood, etc. mist them with water every week or two, hope you can read this.
