Unknown Aroid
Looks pretty young to be able to tell but I want one anyway! If I could trade for one of my hybrids, I would!

Beautiful. It looks slightly like pumbea but I am sure it is not. Alistar maybe able to put a ID to is or Peter boyce.
Could it be Alocasia wentii...I had one that looked very similar
Thanks everyone for trying. LarriAnn, I wish you were close enough to trade with too!
Definitely not plumbea or wentii (have them, it's different) Michael Pascall thinks it's Alocasia infernalis. He even knew where I bought it as he'd gotten one too. Apparently, it's picky so it'll probably be dead in a month LoL, Cry, Cry....
Yours looks nice and healthy. Are you growing it in a light potting mix? What kind of light conditions do you find that it prefers? thanks!! Ann
I would like to know too, Brian or LariAnn.
Hap
A. infernalis really likes warm weather, day and night. Bright light (not sun) and a well-draining potting mix are essential but if temps drop to the 50s, the plant will either go dormant or self-terminate! I had one that was beautiful and as soon as the temps got cool, I thought it was a goner. It lost all leaves and looked dead. Now that the weather has warmed sufficiently, I can see a new leaf that just came up. Based on my observations, I think that A. infernalis is closely allied to A. cuprea.
LariAnn
Thanks.
Hap
Very, very well drained.
We just lost our two to the Wet Season :( Ann
