collapsible green house

Has anyone tried the 'flower house' Bloom house'... live in MA. and want to start seeds early March... saw it on 'littlegreenhouse.com'.

These seem nice but of coarse they would be not be used 365 days a year here in the northeast. I don't think they could handle the weather....

In any case I was thinking about getting one of these too.

I think if all you're trying to do is get a little head start on seeds in the spring it should work fine. But if you decide down the road to expand your activities to include overwintering tropicals and things like that then you'll need to consider something fancier.

Agreed.

If you're around to watch the thing closely for quick weather changes, it should give you a 3-4 week head start on the season. But my experience with a similar set-up (non-insulated small GH) is that temps can really skyrocket if you're not there to "open up" when the sun unexpectedly pops out, or "close up" if the temp suddenly drops. For example, I left to do some shopping one cloudy day last week with the GH temp a tolerable 47 degrees. Ambient outside air was 50 degrees. Halfway to my destination the sun came out, but it didn't appear strong enough to warrant turning around. I got back an hour and a half later and stopped to open the GH. Temp in there was 99.1...in 2 hours! So if you're there to monitor it on an hourly basis, it should work fine. But you'll have to watch it like a hawk. And you can't forget even once (trust me on this one!).

I have one similar to their "portable" greenhouse. I absolutely love it. I can start seeds earlier in the spring, and was able to put some plants in there before moving them indoors in the fall. In the summer I didn't use it much, and kept the window at the back open, and the door partly unzipped, so it didn't overheat. For starting seeds it is ideal.
