I just looked out my kitchen window and there is a hummingbird feeding on my Tecoma capensis!!!!!!
Hummingbird TODAY in PCB, Fl.!
How exciting!
Is that normal or are you having a mild winter or something?
Hope you can get a photo of it. Can you tell which species it might be?
I've only lived here since Sept. 3, 2008, so don't know if it's a typical 'winter' or not - I'm from Kansas City, Missouri - LOL
I did not get a picture and don't have any idea what 'kind' it was.
Kay and ducbucln - It's my understanding that seeing any kind of hummer besides Ruby-throated this far east of the Rockies would be extremely rare! Congrats on the sighting! Our weather the past 3 weeks has been extremely warm, but I haven't seen any hummers - I'm about 3.5 hour east of you, Kay, in South GA. Samantha
I was really shocked to see him - I will keep my eye peeled in hopes of seeing him again. I will also keep my camera near and take a picture if I can.
Sorry, but I didn't see him today. There's a cold front predicted to move through Friday night and this week end, after being in the high 70s for the past three weeks - maybe he went back south for a few days..
