Prayers and well wishes for Billy, please

Deer River, MN(Zone 3b)

Good morning, all,

Tomorrow is going to be a very scary day for me. I am taking Billy to Duluth to have his infected tooth extracted. I had hoped to be able to manage the infection with antibiotics, but it's just not working. I either force the old man to live out his days with a sore mouth that hurts every time I have to administer any of his meds (and probably every time he eats, as well), or I hold my breath for several hours in hopes that he can survive general anesthesia. At his age (approx. 19) and with his health concerns (CRF and hyperT), anesthesia is risky, to say the least. I'm scared to death that I may lose him tomorrow. At least Billy is not hypertensive. His heart is remarkably healthy. I just hope that the anesthesia doesn't trash what little is left of his kidneys.

I'm taking him to a veterinary dentistry specialist at the same clinic where Billy had his cancerous ear pinna removed in '07. This clinic is very well equipped with all necessary monitoring equipment and knows how to manage elderly surgical patients as safely as possible. If Billy can survive this procedure anywhere, it'll be at this clinic.

Please surround my old man with loving energy tomorrow to support his heart and kidneys while he's sleeping under anesthesia. And be sure to send him WAKE UP vibes after the extraction is finished.

Thanks.

Laurie
