I see that wcgypsy has posted to one of Balvenie's threads here, but I thought I would post this anyway.

Robert was lost to us yesterday, and his dear friend drdon has posted a thread on the California forum. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/940447/#new
Please add your thoughts and memories.

We (California DGers) met Balvenie when he came to our RoundUps, which drdon and his wife Pam hosted for the past several years. He was such a gentle, caring and artistic soul who will be missed by us all.

Oh, I am dreadfully sad to hear this. He was such an artistic and encouraging soul. He will be sorely missed.

My sincere sympathy goes to Robert's family. I am so sorry. I did not know him personally, but I certainly enjoyed seeing his beautiful garden art work. He was also a genuinely generous person with a good heart.
