Does anybody know what kind of bird might have a red orange spot visible only when in flight just above the tail feathers and concealed by the wings? I can only see the spot when its in flight. I was laid up with my back and saw it from the sun room. The bird looks like one of the two I asked for ID previously this week. Could it be a Ruby Crowned Kinglet or a Orance Crowned Warbler?
Thanks,
Peg

Ruby-crowned Kinglet has a red spot on the top of its head, only visible occasionally - could that be what you saw?

No, this spot was on the rump, hidden by the wing tips.
Perhaps the red rump on a male house finch...
I will try and get a pic and re-post query.
Thanks
