How often, and in what order, should crops be rotated? I have 10 raised beds and grow the usual assortment of veggies (some peas and beans, lots of maters, greens, etc).
Crop rotation?
phuggins. Here is what I like to use from Tinker. Click on the link and then look fo rtab on left side for crop rotation. other things there too.

Think there some info on that someplace else too but can't remmebr. Maybe one of the other veggie grows will kow somethign else for ya too.
Thank you! :)
You might want to set aside one or two or your beds for perennial vegetables that will occupy the same spot for several years: asparagus, horseradish, rhubarb--in addition to following the rotation cited above.
Good idea Stepphen. Didn't think of those things. : )
I love rhurab. Wonder why I haven't tried to grow it here. Gues s this year be as good as any to try. Thanks. : )
starlight, that is a great site! Thanks!

How many segments do you have in your growing season? DO you just have one long season or 2 (i.e spring and summer?)

Um, I think I have one long growing season...???...the cold weather crops (peas, greens) go in the ground in March/April, the frost sensitive stuff goes in after Mother's Day, which is our last frost date here. I'm setting up some cold frames to grow greens through the winter so will sow another crop of them in late summer, but that's about it.
And yep, I'm trying to figure out where to put my perennials (rhubarb, asparagus, and strawberries) to maximize bed efficiency.
I moved last year and my vegi garden was a disaster since it was to wet so this spring we have to start over again with raised boxes in another area which has only three inches of soil on rock (granite lol) so we must start early to work so we can at least plant on time, last summer I ordered top soil which turned out to be crapy with to much sand and full of weeds so I also have to find another company that will give me something better for my vegi garden by the end of the month I have to apply for a culvert since the land I want to use has no access for delivery of soil
my husband says it would be cheaper to just buy the vegies I laughed and told him over the years this is better and then I reminded him of how good fresh tomatoes taste and he said he would help me lol he always does in the end.

I feel your pain scicciarella!.
Our property is the same way. Worse yet, the planting areas sit at the bottom of a slope. Whenever we would get a heavy rain, the water would roll through like a tsunami.
Had to go to raised beds; 100+ and counting

oh ya well over here its that the house next door has all the drain tiles etc... going in my direction so he floods my garden isnt that nice of him lol oh well with 2.6 acres I just decided that it was not worth the argument so we are going to move the garden from the back to the front but off to the side where it is usually dry by the end of april so one month to build the boxes and fill them that may sound easy but with 16 boxes of 8 by 24 feet
10 inches deep it will be a royal pain in the back but all worth it in the end, farmer down the road is going to come with the tracter with a big bucket to help will the filling I will succeed and have a good vegie garden this year if it kills me hahahahaa
spent to much all ready in seed lol
