I find this interesting insect in my pond. I made a search on the Net and found this to be in the Gerridae family. Can anyone help me know which exactly is this? There is also an entry here on DG "common pond skater", but the pattern wont match.
Which is this pond skater
Is it not the common water strider?

What about the pattern on the back?
Are they the wings? They can fly. I searched and found there are the 'winged' variety also. Could that 'pattern' be those wings?
