I was browsing over their site and although a little pricey, I was wondering if it might be useful in my area which gets so hot in the summer. I have to water all my plants daily anyway, so am wondering how useful it would be?
Do any of you use the EB watering system?
Ask Tplant about his "EB watering system"
thanks Bob! Tplant, what do you think about it?
I just got one for Christmas--I can keep you posted. It seems like every year in June we end up going somewhere, and while my neighbors are pretty reliable about watering, this will just make it easier for everyone.
darkmoondreamer,
Yeah. Ask TPlant about the homemade automatic drip system that BocaBob showed us all how to make... Then ask me how easy it is to put together in 15 minutes, and how you can water up to 45 different sites on his one hook-up. Oh -- and then ask me how much $$ you'll save when you make BocaBob's system compared to purchasing the EB system --- which won't water a fraction of the sites that BocaBob's will...
And, THEN, ask me why I'm converting my entire planting medium over from MG Potting Mix to BocaBob's Coco Coir....
darkmoondreamer,
Because of some of the perhaps unfamiliar terminology associated with the micro drip irrigation systems the process sounds a lot more difficult than it really is. just jump in with a small one bed 3-6 emitter system project. This will get you thru the basics and cover 95% of the installation learning curve. About the only thing left is regulating the amount of water supplied to the plants and that will come quickly once you start using the system.
I got a little confused about when to use drip emitters vs micro sprayers. After some research I found that both are made in models adjustable either from 0-x gal per hour (GPH) for the emitters or from 0- x feet in diameter for the tiny sprayers. Although these adjustable devices may cost a few pennies more than the devices having fixed units of output they will cover just any situation.
Here is a picture of a small and simple system with 9 emitters each delivering 1/2 gallon per hour for a total system capacity of 4.5 gallons per hour. It took about 45 minutes to cut the tubing and assemble all the components and another 30 minutes to place it on the bed and adjust the placement of the emitters. This is my first time at this and it is so much easier than I ever imagined plus it works great.
So, my word on this is to just jump in with a small system and then go from there.
Jerry
I'm going to learn this process. Already have a word of advice from BocaBob so I am reading this site with interest. D in TN
Thanks all! I will talk to Bob about the system. I am starting out as a first timer using Coconut Coir so that's all I will ever know! I only need enough drips to cover the EB I will be buying for now....
Jerry: What you growin in the concrete blocks there bud?
Gymgirl: 45 different sites? Will it be hard for someone who has made their parents ponds that water themselves to put one of these together for me? Here I am working my friend to death now right? LOL
He is making me at least 14 HEBs this weekend.

Joy, The 2' x 6' raised bed contains onions, garlic, shallots, leeks, and chives. Although I am still working on the new fence, I couldn't wait to get back into gardening. I hoped the deer would not bother this bed so I jumped on in with the onion types.
The fence will be finished this week and then I can get to seriously preparing the garden for planting. Due to expanding the old garden to more than double its original size, there is no way I will have it all ready to plant in 8 - 10 weeks. My goal for this Spring is to plant a couple raised beds, a couple dirt rows for Southern peas and beans, a couple hill for cantaloupe and squash, a few straw bales (check out the Straw Bale Forum), and lots of 5 gallon grow bags filled with coir, and a few 5 gallon buckets filled with coir sitting in Walmart oil drain pans. The pans will collect any excess run off from the fertigation system.
Over the next couple years I should have a pretty good idea of which of these growing system or combination thereof will be suited for my tired old back. (smile)
Happy Gardening,
Jerry
Jerry: You sure come up with some great ideas. LOL

Jerry,
When are you sowing your cowpeas/Southern peas? I wanna grow purple hull peas, blackeyed peas, lady cream peas, and crowder peas. LMK.
Thanks!
Linda
Linda,
Sorry so late with this....Probably sometime in March depending on how soon the soil warms. I'll stagger several plantings of a dozen or so seeds a week apart until I get two 20 or 30' rows planted.
Jerry
Thanks Jerry. FYI, I was reading over in Bocabob's veggie thread that we should use an innoculant on all the beans to get lush greenery and healthy beans. It's a "miticide" that combats spider mites on the peas. Should use early on, and spray once a week thereafter. It's on Bocabob's veggie thread.
I was at Wabash Feedstore last week looking for the cowpeas, but they told me I was too early, and to come back in April. I'm gonna go back in March, and try to plant out beginning the weekend of March 10th. I'll do like you do and stagger plant up until April.
Linda
