I have bid on some more Serama eggs from Ebay, and sure hope I win them.
Well everyone, I have some good news anyway--I found a travel trailer that I will be buying. I will still need to find some kind of Pickup Truck to pull it with but at least I am making progress.
And YES every single one of my critters are going with me. I am not leaving a single one behind. I may even take a stray cat or two with me too although, OMG, that will make 10 cats. OHHHH to many!! But, I love them and I won't leave them behind.
I got through the Court stuff ok, I have to admit I was shaking from fear. But, my pictures did prove that I lived in raw running sewage here and that there is a problem. I think that the judge took that into consideration when I asked him for 3 months.
So, I am paying off the Travel Trailer and moving on.
For now, I am hatching out some more chickens for myself and my next door neighbor. It turns out that his little chickens are Nankins!! And we didn't know it until yesterday. Now I wish I could bug him for some hatching eggs. hehehe
Does anyone know about what age a Serama Pullet will start laying eggs? Also, how does everyone stablize the temperature of a Hovabator incubator?
Thanks everyone.

Sorry, can't give advice on this one. best of luck to you though...
Hey!!! Such good news!!! I am sure you do fine wherever you go!
Seramas? I really dont know much about them. I am sorry.
I am sure some wonderful person will know more about them than I. I looked online and it said 4-5 months. But I have never had that breed.
I sure do wish you well!!! I hope you get your eggs. I have my incubator going now. I do not have to do anything to keep the temp. I keep 2 thermometers in there with it so I get acurate readings. Best wishes!!!! I am happy for you!

Jeanmarie what kind of incu do you have?
Silkiechick can help you with Seramas! She has some cuties!
Good luck with controlling the temp..
ZZ do you know how silkie is doing with her gallbladder she hasn't posted since she said she was haveing problems?
No, I sure don't. I have been in and out so quick.. I haven't been participating like usual either.
I hope all is okay with Silkiechick! She is such a busy bee.. I know gallbladder problems is hard on ya.
Harmony, I am using a Hova-bator with circulated air.
OH NOOOOO I didn't know Silkiechick was sick. I sure hope she's ok.
silkie is hanging in there just been sick is all, thank u for all thinking of me. to answer the serama question if i remember right ours started laying at 4.5- 5 mths old they was wee early comepared to our other breeds. this is one of my roos before he got his adult look all the way. for the hova keep it in a room with a steady temp or it fluxes to much.
Silkie, my friend had gallbladder surgery and she doesn't get sick anymore! I hope your okay. She was sick to her tummy all the time.. I know it's no fun. :(
I love Seramas! I still don't have any.. but soon.. I do want some of your eggs Silkie, when they kick back in gear this spring.
Are they harder to incubate than other breeds? I mean like delicate? I have some in the bator... only a few are developing.. They were very porous, it's my understanding those don't usually develop anyway.
I am having one 'ell of a time with my hovabator. I put in a little comptuer fan and attached it to the top of the bator. I used an adapter that is as close to the 12 volts/watts as I possibly could.
Now, the stupid bator is going up and down with the temps. AND it's also showing 2 different temps at two different locations.
And, I am pulling my hair!!!
I put the whole entire bator, into a wooden box I made and insulated it with the pink stuff.
I also have an electric heater in that room to stablize the room temp. But so far, nothing is helping.
I have ordered another wafer and snap switch and hopefully it will be here asap. I will have eggs coming in soon and I need that blasted bator to work right.

Someone I know had to have her gallbladder taken out about 2 months ago. But, she was up and back to work within one week. I was so surprised. And she is not a well person either. So gallbladder surgery isn't as rough on a person as it used to be.
You be careful Silkie as a gallbladder that goes bad, can not only cause pain, it can kill. So be sure to get it checked out and if necessary, get it removed.

WOW copper, I wish I was mechanically inclined to help you. Saddly, I am not. It sounds like you have done everything. Did the parts you order go bad in the original bator? shesh! I sure hope mine dont while I got eggs in! AHHH! Id run to store to get a new one but it would take a day or so to adjust heat again!!!! Good luck! I hope the parts arrive soon if you have eggs coming!

Copperstone my first incu was a dud it never kept a stable temp and i killed 2 batchs of perfect eggs. I thought it was me until i gave it away and they hatched chicks and 2 out of 40 hatched and they had deformed legs.
It was the incu and it was a still air little giant with a turner wouldn't recommend those to anyone.
I will continue to fight with the hovabator, but I intend to build myself something better. I want to use the automatic turner I bought for the bator and I think I will build around those dimensions.
What a pain. I too have lost 2 settings of eggs. And it was due to the flucs of the temps. Either was to high or to low.
I think the name is right--hova around and over it.

I'm thinking of making my own like the stickie...
Grow stickie what stickie ??
The very tippy-top firstest of all stickies-the Homemade 'bator thread!!
Oh that sticky thats a good bater to make i'm just going to wimp out and buy a new one.
You know i'm so use to that sticky i forget it's there LOL
Know whatcha mean...
I am fuming tonight--the man I was going to buy my trailer from isn't quite what he said he is.
Guess he has a "partner" and the "partner" is the one who has the title to the trailer AND the partner wants more money down. I can't do that because I don't have the money.
I am going to back out of this deal because now I am leary.
But, I am back to square one. Wish I could buy Haystack's trailer, but I have to be out of here by March 15th.
Dang it anyway. Tomorrow I think I will go look at a used car lot where I might have better luck.

I have a Hova and bought the new wafers... helped for like 2 days.. now it's up to it's old tricks.. I too have gone through a couple bator loads of eggs...
I am thinking of building one that will fit the turner in too.. cause this is insane... the money wasted on eggs would have... well.. I don't want to think about that.. (hind sight is always 20/20)
The hatcher Catscan showed me how to build is much more stable than the Hova OR Lil Giant! I just can't fit the turner in it..
Do show pics of yours! I will too if I can ever take time off building coops! LOL
Will do ZZs. Think I might go get the lumber for it tomorrow.
All right!!! :D I got my trailer. YIPPPEEEE
Now I just need something to pull it with.
Ohh my gosh, I am going to be moving from this terrible place soon.
copper
Congratulations.. I'd give anything to have a camp trailer and just run away.. Oh it sounds soooo nice!
