Trying to identify hawks always confuses me. The closest match I could come up for this one is a juvenile Cooper's Hawk.
CLOSED: CLOSED: Is this one a juvenile Cooper's Hawk
Tricky, because one can't see the body shape well. I'm leaning more towards a Buteo hawk, but not certain. Any more pics of it?

Thanks! Unfortunately, I only got a couple pictures (all from the same angle) before it flew off. This one is actually a different hawk; but I think it's the same type. It's probably not much more help than the original pic; but at least you can see its size relative to the telephone pole it's sitting on. It was a fairly large one.

Thanks; it does look the same species, and I'd say light phase Red-tailed Hawk.
