This is my first year with my greenhouse and am experiencing some pest that I have never seen before. What is this? There are webs on some of my plumies and these little red bugs and the leave a sticky substance on the leaves which turn yellow then fall off. Most of my plumie seedlings are healthy looking with their green leaves still. Help!

What's eating my plumies?
Yes spider mites ,that happens in the greenhouse as they like a dry enviroment and they do not like water. I would spray them with Safer soap ,then spray with water every day.
Thanks so much. I sprayed with soap. I hope I caught them in time before total destruction.

OMG! houma, louisiana. that's my hometown. thought i'd never see that one listed on dave's. hi dorothy!
just a tip. always be prepared for spider mites in any situation. i don't know what type of environment they do and don't like. i have had them in a humid greenhouse that bakes during the day and cools down at night. that's with air circulating. (air circulation is better than still air as dutchlady pointed out.) i have also had them outside during the summer in arizona and into fall. a friend's brug that is outside in the ground gets covered with them at various times throughout the year.
i used a horticultural oil on my plumies before bringing them inside during the winter, whether that be in the house or the greenhouse. i recall only having to spray them once because the sheen seems to last the whole winter.
all the best with getting rid of these pests.
That's badly infested with spider mites! One alternative way is to wipe them out with wet towel paper.
great idea kukiat! i have done that for immediate irradication.
I find 50% alcohol, 50% water total = 1 pint add 2 TBS flea dip or spray.
Mites = history.
Red mites are the worst and you have em.
Mine are blue and purple ;p
a friend has found success with a dog shampoo soln.
