I saw this bird in St.Petersburg, Florida while visiting relatives. It is smaller than a mockingbird. ---(A little smaller than a cardinal...?) It's not a great picture, but thought someone would perhaps recognize it.
CLOSED: who am I?
it sure looks like a mockingbird to me.
I thought so at first, but it was probably only about 7".
could you tell if it had an eye ring? the only bird that comes close in my book is the Townsend's Solitaire.

I agree, it's a Mockingbird. Maybe it's just young. That Townsend's Solitaire is only out west, anyway.
that's what i thought. couldn't find the TS in this area.
Looks like the Northern Mocker to me also: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=images+of+northern+mockingbird&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title

I think Alabama is out of the range for the Townsend's Solitare: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Townsends_Solitaire_dtl.html
I have tons of mockingbirds here in Alabama, and they are much bigger. Maybe they just grow them smaller in Florida. haha
LOL, Julie! I visit my sister and family down in South Florida and the doves I see down there are so much larger and fatter than the ones here in Daytona Beach where I live!
If the bird in your photo is not the Mockingbird could it possibly be the Grey Catbird? Both in the same family and about the same size.

No the Catbird has a dark grey cap that is not on this one.
It's a Northern Mockingbird. :-)
Looks like a mockingbird to me too
The squirrels in Florida are much smaller, too. I will just call it closed as a petite Mockingbird. haha
Julie ... maybe he just needs his own feeding station to fatten up, LOL.
The mockingbird is mocking me.
