The color you see on this bird is true. Its an olive green, I cannot find it in my Tx. (Fort Worth) bird books.

Thanks

Sure is a pretty little bird! I'm not good at identifying birds at all ... maybe the Tennessee Warbler?

I'm sure someone will be along soon and recognize that pretty little gal/fellow.

Not sure, but I'll say a first winter Orange-crowned Warbler.

Ditto to Orange-crowned Warbler.

No wonder I couldn't tell in the pic in the book it looks grey, what a lousy pic for identification. Info says it will drink nectar, think if I put out the hummer feeder it will drink it?

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

I don't know about the nectar, but I will say that ID'ing warblers this time of year (and fall) is notoriously difficult. But lots of birds can be ruled out, too. It must be hard to choose a few pictures to represent a species in a book, especially this bird - there are subspecies, different plumages for different times of year and genders, the age of the bird, etc... and the lighting in a photograph can make it tricky too.

I have noticed that Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Orange-crowned Warblers tend to hang out together in pairs. I noticed that you also posted a Kinglet pic. Were they flying around together? I wonder if anyone knows why they do that?

Claypa, your point about warblers is so true. When I saw this photo, I thought to myself, well it's a warbler, but....
and I thought of the page in my Peterson field guide that's titled , "Confusing Fall Warblers". LOL. I think of it every
time I see a pale greenish warbler this time of year. :)

Yes, that page in the book isn't nearly as pretty as the others... they're much more fun when they're singing, and in breeding plumage!
