I am proposing holding a Wake under my rock, this evening between 7 and 10 pm eastern. Supposed to be a celebration of life where we bring all our best and worst memories of husbandry and animal rescue, diagnosis and puzzlement. Featured Music: http://www.last.fm/music/Medi%C3%A6val+B%C3%A6bes/The+Best+of+the+Mediaeval+Babes To me the whole point is to do better, know better how to help the next time around, and to not get afraid of trying. The rock is open. Bring your favorite tipple and best stories. Any comments or suggestions, chime in!!
Wake Under Rock
Can't get on the net at night (self-imposed) but I'll sure be there with you in spirit, nut!
Not sure I can either, I may have to take the GS to wrestling practice tonight.
I'll be there.
Oh, I'll be there, with a glass of wine, or 2. :-)
looks like i might be able to be here
I'll be there... heaven only knows I've pulled my share of screw-ups!
I'll bring chips and green chili dip. =0)
I'm so in the mood to get good and maudlin; I've been melancholy all day with no good excuse. Might as well do something worthwhile with it....
Oh woe is me....
Jay
'Tis the season Jay -I do it too. Time to plot plan and scheme when you start gettin' too maudlin (notice I know it ALL when its someone else!! -just need someone to kick me when I start!!)
kick, kick, kick.
=0) I feel much better now. LOL Thank you, grow.
I think it was reminiscing about my hunter/jumper days that did it... I'm an old has-been. =(
But at least I'm not done in yet.
Jay
Funny, I feel better too -LOL. I'm an ol' hasn't yet!! Cheer up!
Dang. Need'n to go do supper...
Here's some of my favorite music!! Hippy dippy trippy!!

OK, I am sitting here in appropriate wake fashion (barn clothes) with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc in hand (it is Rock Rabbit brand, because it has an animal in the name) and on my lap, wrapped in polar fleece, is a baby duck (or goose) who got into the water tub I put out for them and couldn't get out. It was shivering and soaked. I thought they could swim already. Now I have taken out the water tub (rubbermaid tote filled with water). I am learning fast!
And, I am listening to Medieval Babes. When does the wake begin? Kelly is making me supper.
I'm here with a glass of Irish Cream and a drooling dog who love it to.
As soon as we get rowdy, I guess. Dummy me, didn't get finished cooking til just now. And Har should be here. And a few others. What's your tipple? I'm glad you remembered the footies -forgot to mention bringing them
I want Irish Cream...
Claire -did you find out it was IB then? Thought you posted that you had it pretty much under control? I'm sneaking in here and not really getting what I should...
Did Jay or anyone listen to the Celestial Soda Pop? I need to check out the Babes I guess, too.
I think it was IB. I'm not sure, but without a lab diagnosis....
They seemed to have the symptoms for it and also the weird egg ridges. I didn't have any deaths last night so I hope it is nearly over. Still some with symptoms.
Least there's something specific and proactive to DO about it...
I'm feeling the need for some highly spiked coffee...

My Sauvignon blanc is going down very smoothly. :-)
Despite the duck on my lap.
I have nearly a whole bottle of Irish Cream except what the dog managed to steal by partly unscrewing the top. Darn dog is to smart.
You almost make me wish I had better taste in tipples...
I've got all the creatures fed and may have a little time to carouse here on Dave's while they're drowsing, but where's the rest of the crew?! I spent my day looking into getting Icelandics and maybe a black hog or two and there's only peace and quiet to be had...I s'pose that's what I usually go under my rock for, but still...{{{mmmm, mmaybe they're all here quietly lurking in the nooks and crannies....}}}
I would not fit in a nook or a cranny. LOL
Ah HAH! Lurking with bottle in hand!!! I have those classy plastic wine glasses that the bottoms pop on and off! I wonder what's the appropriate plastic for Irish Cream?
Me neither. I'm listening to the radio station you sent and doing odd winter solstice type dances. I put the duck back with its friends.
I'd say any plastic that it doesn't melt.
Brown, so they think you are drinking it mixed with coffee, instead of straight. LOL
Honey, I'm right near MAMMOTH cave -Trust me, we ALL fit -up to and including Harmony's tangerine elephant!!
Was that a whole station I sent? I need to start it up...or have I missed something?
Ok I am on my way with a drooling dog in tow. I have a booze loving dog.
My sister says I have a louse taste in wine! I like sweet can't stand dry. LOL
Cool. I did. And I think I'm liking this. What a fun thing for a winter evening. And the wind is wild out there...
I only liked dry wine until I was about 13. Then my taste went south. Stopped enjoying Christmas and Thanksgiving when I actually got to drink it with the grownups.
I love sweet wines too Wren - depends on my mood. Right now, I'm having the Sauvignon because Kelly made pasta carbonara for supper. I like something a little more dry and crisp with that to cut the creaminess. Your sister should expand her horizons! Ice wine (very sweet) is highly prized!
Grow - when I went to the medieval babes link, there was an option to "Play Medieval Babes Radio" which I clicked on and it's giving me them, plus a bunch of other medieval and moody bands. Very cool!
I just found out for myself! really liking this!! I saw it because I remember your mentioning them and was looking for something--never realised I had found something quite so cool...Sure feels good. I think I may go and mull some wine for self and hubby, though.
Great idea! Mull away. I will just keep on doing silly medieval dances and sending up vibes to Rosie, wherever she may be.
Oh, ratz. I can't do music streaming on my medieval dial-up. You'll just have to hum along for me.
For those of you that like sweet drinks... my new winter favorite is a good port with a spoonful of chocolate fudge sauce. Or fudge... some kind of really good chocolate to smear on the roof of your mouth, then you take a little sip of port...
O.... OOOO..... OOOOOOO..... Aaaaaah. {{{{bliss queen}}}}
OK, we need a toast to get this wake rolling...
In the great round of life and death, the tragedy and the heartbreak of lives unrealized and unfulfilled, of all out effort and utter defeat in spite of all our love and good intentions, remember...
Where there's livestock, there's dead stock. It happens and there's not a whit any of us can do to prevent it, no matter how hard we try. But try we must and try we will!
Salud!!
Jay
Hi all! Well, does a glass of BudLight count?
If you insist on wine then a nice German Reisling...I've been trying to like the reds but it's a battle w/ my tastebuds.
Mulling....yes they wile and beguile and confound and outwit us again and again and again...if I were as smart as my goats I would have many more than I do. Did you know that goats and sheep consistently kid lamb outside in the coldest weather available regardless of their due dates? I am always out on the ground in 0-10 degree weather with beachtowels drying kids....
A glass of anything counts, to my mind. As long as it's potable...My mulled wine is still not done...jealousy...nose is cold. Sticking snoot in wren's baileys...
Salute! Thanks for the toast Jay.
And here's to my Sandra Dee. No-one will ever take your place in my heart.
I have some Grand Marnier and Patron in the cupboard....nope I'm sticking w/ the Bud!
