Thanks Resin, not sure what you mean with 'escaped from a Christmas Roundup' I hope they're not on the Christmas dinner menu? EEEKK!

How would I have to enter the hybrid goose into Bird Files?

nr.2 looks to be a mix of Toulouse and Greater White-fronted Goose, either way a Toulouse hybrid.
and the next one is a Swan Goose or Hybrid of it called Brown Chinese Goose(Swan Goose x Toulouse Goose). There is also a white form of this goose with orangish bill and head bump

#2 looks like a purebred Toulouse to me and #3 is what we've always called an African Goose. if you google/images African Goose, you'll see lots of pictures.

here is Brokewing my surviving Toulouse Goose. The other one had a solid orange bill

here is my Brown China Girl LadyBug. I just got her last week. She was pitiful. She wasn't wanted because of her Angel Wings

Errr, yes! Farmers wouldn't rear them, if they couldn't sell them! It's the traditional christmas dinner in Scandinavia and Germany.

Doesn't really belong, since it isn't a wild bird

Agree; no influence of White-fronted Goose at all. White feathering around the base of the bill is common in domesticated geese derived from Greylag Goose

#3 is what we've always called an African Goose

More often called Chinese goose

Thank you all for helping to solve this!
Your goose are lucky having found refuge with you Donna!
They're lovely!
I love all birds whether they are wild, hybrids or domesticated..
So I did understand you well Resin, I'm happy to be a vegetarian!
Many thanks!

oops looks like my LadyBug is a boy. He had his worm out today ROFL!!!!! He is still young. According to what I read about them the males have a big bump and that you can tell when they are 12 weeks old. I guess that works if you have females too, to see the difference grrrrrrrrr

poor thing. i'm glad you got him. what happened to his wings?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

there is a debate as to wether it is caused by a higher protein diet for to long as baby or if genetic.
