This is the wall from the inside.. can't tell I got in a rush? LOL

I can "fine tune" things as I want... like the nest boxes on the outside.. trim, etc... but the important part is... It's moved and ready to use now!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

ZZ that is amazing! It looks so nice! You are a talented person!
You really know how to keep busy! hehehe

Citra, FL

Dont tell me you built that yourself!!! Its gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Look at that floor!!!!

(Zone 6b)

ZZ I am so impressed. It looks great. Is it 8 feet long? How many feet high? and wide? Ty for including the picture of the inside roof part. I had no idea you could do it that way.

You would laugh if you saw mine. Maybe if I get my camera working, I'll post it. As long as nobody laughs too loud.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

We wont laugh! too loudly.

(Zone 7b)

Laugh? Honey i've seen people with chickens in old camper tops as roost with a chicken wire run.

Clarkson, KY

S'okay!! If they laugh I'll just post mine! You'll be fine...

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes, I built it all by myself.. No one so much as held a board for me! I am gonna be able to build the next one much faster now that I've got a skillsaw! I hope to get a staple gun too.

Yes, it's 4x8.. the walls are 5' tall.

I bought the plans, but they were designed for a carpenter.. not an old lady. The guy has plenty of notes, but no step by step instructions.. and for $35. I think he should have included phone support! The inside & roof were left as "frame any way you like" I'm like... Thanks a lot.. I'm not a carpenter.. I paid for instructions!

I did not use the same lumber he did.. and his measurements are off... so I just had to "wing it" most of the way.

Thank you everyone.. I'm very pleased.

There are 10 young roos in there tonight.. protesting loudly.. but snug as a bug for the night. It will ultimately house something else, I'm sure.. for now, it's a bachelor pad.

Gate (Rochester), WA(Zone 7b)

ROTFLOL!

Yours looks TONS better than mine - though I didn't even bother with instructions. Just went for it. GREAT job ZZ

Cheryl{squiggle}Pea -where have you BEEN?! It has been ages since I have seen or heard from you -and no I'm not your long lost anything, but golly-lolly, gal!!

Gate (Rochester), WA(Zone 7b)

Diggin out from under snow & clearing it collapsed building & trying to trick a hawk from getting at my birds. All in all, just having a grand old blast - NOT! Oh yeah, watch for falling fir bough's that aren't used to getting this much snow either.

Seems I have got a ton of 'catching' up to do on all these threads!

BTW I want this building - just may have to copy the plan, best that I can anyway. About 9 more months with my son still at home so he can help. Better with the plans than I ever will be!

Cheryl ~ Pea (Squiggly is above #1 on keyboard - I just like it......lol)

Clarkson, KY

I do too but it ain't above my 1.....jealouuus....

So sorry about all the trauma -sounds awful enough to last you a good while...

Citra, FL

Well I am just in awe that you did that yourself. Speechless.

Im in awe of that people door!! Wow.

(Zone 6b)

I am too Fla chick. I think she needs to show us and tell us how she did that.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Word of warning, what kind of latch is on that people door? I have one that will latch on its own but the plastic "fencing" holes are big enough I can get my fingers thru to open it from the inside. I have read many many posts on people having to crawl out of the poop clean out tray to get out of their locked coop. On my main coop if I was to get locked in there I would be in there until someone came to let me out. But no chance of that happening unless someone did it on purpose.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Step by Step pics were posted (at least some steps) on the tour de coup I think. I will have to look. If not, ZZ will be building a new one. Maybe she will make a do it yourself video! hehehe

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Yea if I remember right she started out with a hand saw cutting the wood. OMG I bet that took some work. Just great job.

(Zone 7b)

Luvs if you are talking about those self locking gate locks i have one on my ground coop door. I solved the getting trapped by tying a cord to the lever and running it threw the wire on the inside.
So when i go in it closes behind me and when i go out i pull the cord and it opens.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Ive heard stories about them also, the cord breaks or something............... I make sure my cell phone is on me when I go to the coop just in case. I would hate to live there for days before anyone came to check on me.

(Zone 7b)

I used a nylon fish stringer cord been on my pen for 5 years and it's never broken "hint""hint"
