I am hoping that I will have fuzzy butts hatch on or around Jan 3rd. All 16 eggs showed signs of life. I have 12 Golden Cuckoo Marans and 4 Salmon Faverolles in my bator. They will be moved to my hatcher which is a fishtank w heater and waterjar for humidity. Did a test run on the hatcher, it is ready. Below is a pic of my Salmon Faverolles that were about 2 days old. I made the traveling cage for my baby fuzzy butts few years ago..I don't like them plastic pet carriers...I do have a clothcover to go over the cage..
Hatch Date: Jan 3
Cute peepers~!
That is a nice lil cage Moodene! Good luck on your hatch.. Do post when they start pippin and zippin!!!
Your babiez are darling!

I have a Hovabator w force air and egg turner which is a must with me. I have had mine for 4 years now and love it..I have to set the temps myself which is easy..I keep it in my bedroom since I check it when I get up and check it before going to bed..
Those Hovabator with preset temps, I do not know anything about them..Maybe someone will speak up and answer the question for you.
When I start my fishtank hatcher, I will be posting pics of my babies hatching. I made it with stuff here at my home with what I had handy..
I also made this syringe tube thingy(pic below) to add water to my bator without opening the bator lid..I just open the plug holes, put the tube thru. and add water..I do little at a time so I don't get my humidity level over 55%.
I do the dry incubation 99.5% w 55% humidity works for me. Then my hatcher is 98% w 75-80% humidity depend on the weather outside. I am having hot and raining weather,... hot and dry weather.. cold and raining weather, all in 1 month's time so I have to watch my temps here to adjust what is in my bator.
I really like that syringe thingy i never would of thought of that.
Whats your percentage of hatch with the Hovabater it must be high as you have been incubating in it for 4 years?
I have been looking at the preset ones they are more expensive but price really isn't a problem if their good.
Now i can't afford a Brinsea but i could go a couple hundred on a hovabater.

This is the cheapest preset hovabator I have found..prices are diff according to what you want..
I bought mine at this place..
They also carry parts to the Hovabator as well..
Supper! Jan 3rd...marking the calendar.
Your babies are adorable!!! I cant wait to see the new ones too!
Supper!? No chicken on Jan 3rd~!
LOL SUPER!
I'll be at chicken show at College Station early that morning..then I will be home. Hubby and son will be on morning reporting duties dept..and I will be checking out Fuzzy butts!!!...LOL..
How exciting! I cant wait for details!
College Station, I am hoping my daughter will get her residency there. It is close to home. If she gets there she will be moving there this summer.
What does she want to go to college for?
Does she already have her heart set on something in particular?
Oh yea she has been in College for over 7 years now. She is getting her PHD in Psychology. She is fixing to start her 1 year residency in August. I think there is 2 places in Texas, one in Kansas, one in Indiana and I think somewhere in NY. She will find out where she is going in February.
I also have an order in with a friend to pick up some more hatching eggs. I wont start hatching for another couple weeks tho.
WOW good for her! PHD! You must be so proud! Does she get to pick were she goes for her residency? Or is it like my student teaching? (you go were they send you)
What kind of eggs will you hatch?
She sent in resumes to the ones she wanted to go to, then she goes on the interviews that have requested her then they pick in Feb and then she picks the one she wants. I am very proud of her.
I am going with turkens, jersey giants, marans and EE's.
I think I made a mistake in ordering eggs this time of year.
She said she mailed them out last Monday. I have not gotten them yet.
I dont even know if they will be any good. My daughter loves turkens!
Thats great! She can choose. I am green! I have to go where ever they send me. Most go inner city. Nothing like testing your skills as a teacher. Oh well.
She will be done soon! Congrats!
Arent hatching eggs good for up to 20 or so days? Well maybe not in this cold.
My SIL is going to college to be a history teacher and wrestling coach. Oh boy inner city that can be a test of your skills. Be safe with that. Wow that is almost scary. What level of school will you be teaching?
Highschool. Yes, I have been placed in the city schools in Syracuse so far. They really need the help. The burn out rate for city school teachers is 5 years. Its a shame. They just cant keep good teachers. Everyone wants rural or suburb areas. I want to teach in my own area as well.
I sure hope they come today. Today is a week. They are showgirls. Turken/Silkies! They are so cute.
Wow Highschool!!!!!!!!! You must be one brave soul. :)
Showgirls are very pretty birds. If I were going for the pet aspect I would get some but I am wanting them for dual purpose. I do have 3 black silkies hmmmmmm maybe cross them with my turkens this spring he he he. What about a turken/polish, call them TurPoo or PoKen. What about a cochin/brahama cross and call them ha ha ha go ahead and laugh............CoBra!!!!!
Oh sounds dangerous (CoBra!) I sure like the sound of PoKen!
I bet they would look cool! I just love the polish.
I have back issues and can not work leaned over with little ones. So Highschool it is.
Moodene how can you stand it only two more days until the babys are suppose to hatch!!!
Dominique
I thought this was going to say there's pippin'!
LOL Jenks i do also.
I do hope to have pippin by Jan 3..lol..hatcher is ready will take pics...
I am hatching my eggs in this fishtank on the last 3 days of the incubation period. The temps have been staying at 99 degrees w humidity around 78-80.
I have the glass jar/heater inside a paperbox to keep the chicks from going near it..took it out for ya'll viewing.
This makes my 4th time hatching in it since I want to keep an eye on my babies hatching. I will have a clamp on light when that starts to happen..
What a great hatcher! That is such a cool set up! Perfect!
I can't wait to see pips and zips! Good Luck Moodene!
I like the idea of hatching them in a fishtank so you can see them hatching:D
I cant wait to see them when they hatch :]
Dominique
What a great setup! Love it, a room with a view!
Sure cant wait for pippage! ;)
The humidity finally stayed where I wanted it to be..at 65 -70..It just took sometime for everything to settled down..temps are around 95. The room that the tank is in is warm since I have my 3 baby chicks in there too..lol.
will post pics soon as I get to see anything pipping..lol
I cant wait!!!!
getting eggcited for you!!!!
No pippin'?
Today is the 4th! Any sign of life yet?
