I have several bulbs not sure if they are crinums or amaryllis that have what looks like rust on the leaves. Is there some way to treat these or do I just throw them away?
Rust on Bulbs?
Is it reddish? I see that a lot on amaryllises and I may peel outer skins and go on and plant. Never bothered anything. Don't know about crinums as I have only purchased plants.

I found the following link: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/EP060
scroll down to diseases and read about red blotch. I have had that but my new foliage has never been affected; however, it doesn't seem to be just an "annoyance" factor.
Hi Marie, does the "rust" appear like an orangy powdery substance? I've seen that type of RUST on my plumerias. Have you a pix to share of the affected bulbs?
Sorry I had to sneak the above post in while I had 3 sick kids and I am just now getting back here.
Vossner it is exactly as you describe it. Lily I will try and take a picture of it today when I get home this evening. I am off to look at the link you posted Voss.
Marie I've had that and it's never been a problem. If the red spot is mushy maybe you can peel til you find firm but with such a little spot, I don't know that I would bother.
PS: I'm not the best amaryllis mommie in the world but I can't remember losing any amaryllises, despite my less than tender loving care.
Ok then I will just move them to be safe. I have another that was a lot worse so I cut off the leaves and cleaned the bulb and replanted away from others. I have to admit I am not a very goodbulb mom or plant mom in general. There is no ryme or reason to my garden and I severly lack in the feeding department.
I do believe your bulbs and leaves are a-okay! Not rust problem. I think they will do just fine, Marie. Best of lucks.
