CLOSED: Very strange large bird from a Bird park..

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

Last year I was invited for a trip to a Bird park. I accepted though I do not like zoos of any kind hating to see animals in captivation even if the cages are huge! So perhaps I have been in consequent but I also went there to see some very beautiful old trees and a special tropical plant collection.

This huge bird looked so strange, I've never seen it before.
Can someone help with the ID for adding it in Bird Files ?

Thanks Donna!
I have done some search and found the Latin name which is Casuarius casuarius.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Reputed to be the most dangerous bird in the world, they are supposed to be able to kill with a single kick.

I can believe that Resin. Look at the size of those feet

But according to Wikipedia they are usually shy birds!
I suppose they only get dangerous when threatened and use what they have to defend themselves! I had an impression of peace loving creatures..

Yep, that's about right. Normally timid, but if they feel threatened and don't have an easy escape route, they'll attack, viciously. Also some problems in Australia with individuals getting habituated to humans, and seeing their picnic lunches as a good source of food, easily obtained by booting the people out of the way.

Well we cannot really blame the poor creatures, as the human specie is a threat to their natural habitats (deep rain forests) depriving them from their natural food resources...
Kind of same thing like with 'bothersome' behaviour of elephants who are taken off so much of their natural habitat..sigh..
