I'm new to the idea of growing in an EB. I am very interested in the DIY EBs, but I want to grow melons. Has anyone done this and how did you support the growing melons?
Does anyone have a DIY method for supporting melons in an EB
Jan wrote an article about growing miniature melons - let me find it for you!

Thanks for the article! I was thinking a mini variety of some kind. I have an heirloom seed catalog on order, so hopefully something there will be a good prospect.
There are a few minis, not many, but they do lack flavor! Mickeylee is not to big and is delicious. Weighs about 15 lbs. Takes up same amount of room as the minis.
Meant to say I supported mine on a chain link fence using nylon hose as they stretch w/o breaking.
Hey, Paw!
Just lurking here. What's the flavor like on those Bush Sugar Babies? Remember, we still have seeds from when I ordered last summer!
Yeah! I totally forgot about those? They are tricky! If you wait till vine dries up they become over ripe. You must pick them just as the vine starts to show signs of drying then they are delicious.
It's good to know about the flavor of mini's. In my opinion, the whole point of growing your own is to get a better melon than what the grocery store carries. I'll have to give tying with nylons a shot.
DaniofMN,
If you have access to someone's office setting, post a sign and a small box in the lunch room asking the ladies to bring in the cut off legs from their toss away nylons (um, you'll probably have to throw the whole lot into the washing machine, but hey, FREE is FREE...)
LOL! That's a great idea Gymgirl; free is almost always a good thing.
Send me your addy and I'll share mine (pre-cleaned, of course!)
