ACV ratio????

Belchertown, MA

Hi Everyone,
I'm sure this has been addressed, but I finally bought some ACV (at Walmart!!) and was wondering what the ratio is with the water. I've read that some put it in all winter long - but have no idea how much.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Teresa: I use ACV all year long, in the amount of four teaspoons per Gal. The amount isn't to critical as it cannot harm the birds, its just that if it's to strong they won't drink and therefore will not get water. After you use it just make sure you see them drinking from the waterer. Happy Holidays. Haystack

I would start with a tiny bit.. and increase over time. With the weather and having them not drink much, sure don't want to slow them down now.

I'm adding vitamins/electrolytes to the water for mine. I was reading that during times when they are not drinking much, it's more important to get electrolytes in them.

I email notes to myself when I read them then put them on my website for later reference.. One note says 1 Tablespoon to a gallon to start.

Good idea ZZ - the over 40 thing is problematic when trying to remember :)
So, does that mean you are giving them gatorade?? ha ha - or maybe pedialyte? vitamin water? What do you use?

Thanks Haystack - good idea to use it all year long, particularly if it helps.

Thanks for the advice!!

I got the powdered vitamins makes 128 gallons! I only use a pinch.. not even the 1/4 teaspoon I've seen recommended... Just a tiny pinch as if it were salt... The young bachelors are really thriving on it..
