What kind of Lipstick plant?

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

A friend gave me 2 cuttings last summer. It's grown beautifully, and is now blooming. I've looked around the internet but can't find the same bloom.
Any idea's?
Thanx

I have that one....What a surprise last winter when I opened the drapes and found it blooming! It is columnea Carnival.

Gorgeous!!-- that one is going on my want list!!

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

well, that would explain why I couldn't find it...I was looking under the wrong name!!!
ok...blonde and gray.....

Hillbilly, I will be able to take some cuttings before long. It's grown really well...

Gran, It is beautiful and a very easy grower. This motivates me to repot mine--I've been abusing it!

Mine used to look like yours-LOL! Gonna cut it back and repot--I will save the cuttings if anyone wants them. They are healthy--it's the crown that needs rejuvenating.

Aaah ... lovely plants ladies! I had that one for a few years ... but alas, I let it die this summer! I'm such a bad plant mom! At least I think it's totally gone now, will have to look around after the holidays when I get organized and clean my Florida Room and deck! I have so many plants sitting around, a few half dead and some already goners mixed in with the live ones ... maybe I will find some of the C. 'Carnival' still alive and be able to give it some TLC. It is one of the prettiest I've seen!

Oh, I see mj has added a picture to Plant Files ... Phoebesviolets you need to add yours too! http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/180669/

Hi Plantladylin. I've been meaning to ask you if you know of any great nurseries for tropical plants. I must not be far from you, I live a little north of Orlando. I'm always looking for unusual and variegated plants. I frequent Lukas nursery all the time and I think I own all the tropicals they supply, LOL. Dawn

Hey Dawn ... I live in Daytona Beach. Yes, I see you are in Winter Springs! We were over that way at Oviedo Marketplace just last week!

We don't have any good nurseries left over here. Only two in town and they mostly carry landscape plants, not many houseplants at all which makes me crazy! I LOVE Lukas Nursery in Oviedo! It's been awhile since I've been there, don't get over that way very often. I think all the good tropical nurseries are down in South Florida!

I see mjsponies is in Deland ... just west of me! It's a small world!

Winter Springs, FL

Hi. I guess there could be some great nurseries in Apopka. Need to go out there some time and check them out. Thanks for your quick response!! Yes it is a small world. Dawn

(Zone 1)

I think there are a lot of wholesale nurseries around the state, moreso than retail. I know Hermann Engelmann Greenhouses is in Apopka. They are the ones who have the Exotic Angel plants: http://www.exoticangel.com/

Well thank you. Nice website.

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Wow, yup, it is a small world!! I don't know of any good nurseries that carry "houseplants" really either other than what may be over in Apopka.
Plantladylin, there is the "Power Plant" right down the road from me (Marsh Rd off 92) they are a wholesale place, mostly orchids but lots of tropicals too. Anyway every year in October they host a big Orchid/Tropical show, and open up to the public. My SO has to drag me out of there every year.....I'm lusting for a batflower and they have one of the biggest ones I've ever seen. Anyway they bring in a lot of vendors, no AF's tho.
They also let you visit the "breeding shed" where they house their parent plants and do their crosses. Pretty cool.

Do you all have Lowe's? They carry all the houseplants and orchids...........

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I think you may have a wonderful nematanthus.........let me see if I have some blooms to share.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I will be honest. You may have a columnea but a goldfish plant is a nematanthus I think.

Here is my goldfish plant........
