Nice shot, but this is a Syrphid fly in the Family: Syrphidae; Order: Diptera.

It looks like one we have here, Scaeva pyrastri.

jvivier, I agree with wallaby1, that your picture is of the hoverfly Scaeva pyrastri. Flies differ from most other winged insects by only having one pair of wings, with the hind wings modified into club-like organs called halteres.
