Here is a picture of my favorite epi. It's color seems to change with the light. Sometimes it seems to glow. It is spectacular when it covers itself with flowers, which are slightly larger than my outspread hand.
I don't know the name of it. It arrived mislabled.
My Favorite Epi
That is lovely. Is it blooming now? I just bought on with out a name that is covered with buds that might be that color, but with smaller buds. If it is still blooming can you place something beside the bud or bloom to show the size.
Thank you
Sandy the epi nut.
That is indeed lovely. I think the flowers are a lot larger than the one I have.
Sandy
Does it look like this one

I will keep looking.
Sandy the epi nut
That is beautiful. I love the unusual peach/pink tone.
Sandy, I don't have a picture of anything to measure the orange/pink one by, but it is the same size as the one I will post here against my hand. They are both considered the "Large" size epi.
I don't think it is the same one as the one in your picture. The petals are shaped a liitle differently and the petals on mine seem to be outlined in hot pink.
Yours is really beautiful, though.
Thank you, Lili. God does make beautiful things, doesn't, he?

What is the name of that lovely bloom?
Lovely is right!
It is either Trapeze or Emmett Kelly. I ordered both and got two that were the same kind. Of course I did not realize they were the same until two years later when they bloomed, and by that time the seller was out of business.
(This was one of the best epie dealers in the country.)
Thanks for the compliments. He does know how to make'em, doesn't he?
WOW! Check out the size of the bud (see - next to the flower)....
I have a white NBC and it produces dinner plate size blooms. It's incredible when you see it. Is your bloom a night bloomer? Does it last longer than one day/night?
I was looking for the pictures of those two and found three different pictures of trapeze, no wonted it is so hard to ID the plants.
They are both day bloomers and last maybe two days.
Whatever that one is, it is awesome.
I believe it has finally been correctly identified as Emmett Kelly.
It is gorgeous! I will have to look for one similar. You can't have too many you know....
LOL I agree you can not have too many. I have a order ready to go payday!!!!!
I want one of those too. Emmett Kelly is a great looking specimen. I guess I will have to order one very soon.
Thanks for the photos. I have put this on my wish list at home. Beautiful colors!.
Eppie Question:
'Sounds like we are all eppie addicts here! How do you deal with the tremendous
sized these lovely plants get when you have more than a few????
Mine get so HUGE, and I probably have more room available for them than most
folks do.
Gaylams,
You do what Sandy (wren107) did and make more room to grow them. She's done an awesome job of building a shade structure for them. She's got hundreds of epi's. I can't begin to imagine! LOL
Sarah
Yes And If I keep going I will have to build a second one. (I am in the planing stage for one to hang the basket type one.) I am a ADDICT help!!!!
You can also prune them some. Each little spot on the leaf/stem only blooms once.
Oh my goodness! If I get addicted to many more plants DH will not be a happy camper! Over the years I've given away entire collections of African violets, orchids, eppies, and I can't tell you how many brugmansias.
I know he is right. I get where I don't have time to do anything else except take care of plants if I let myself go.
There is something about me....I can't let a limb broken or cut off of anything go without trying to root it. If I see a seed it must be planted.
But I get so much joy out of seeing things grow all fresh and new and beautiful!
I won a bid on a "Emmett Kelly" finally. Whew!.
Have more plants coming.
Great.
Dh, put up hanging rods for me in my aviary. 36 feet long actually. I had no choice because th porch was already full of tender things too and I knew I would heat the aviary. I just took them out yesterday. They look great.
