Vet Couldn't Figure out Problem With my Cat

Wharton, TX(Zone 9a)

I just wanted to share this story with anyone who might have had or has this problem with their cat. I moved to Texas about 7 months ago from the Boston area and of course my cat moved here with me. He had always been an outdoor cat(he's 10 years old) as we lived in a rural area but mostly he just hangs around the house. After about 2 months he started to have a bloody stool so I took him to the vet. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with him but gave him some antibiotics and it seemed to do the trick. So I let him out again and about one month later his stool was bloody again. Back to the vet, more antibiotics and he cleared up again. I decided he must be eating something nasty outside that was causing the bleeding so I kept him in the house. A month later the bleeding started again and so eliminated the going outside as being the problem. Then I remembered that I had changed his dry food as I couldn't find the one he had been eating before dpwn here. I switched him to canned food and within 3 days the bleeding had stopped. The dry food was very large balls and since he doesn't chew it, it was irritating the insides of him. He has been fine now for 3 months and I'm sure glad I figured it out. I did call the vets to let them know just in case any other cat has this problem
