CLOSED: Help with ID

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I am in Fort Worth, Tx. This is a large bird almost the size of a dove. Couild it be a Ladderback or Golden-Fronted or maybe something else?

Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Golden-fronted is fairly similar, but has a yellow back (and front!) to its head, not red; you'd also need to be a bit closer to the Mexican border to get them.

Ladder-backed is a lot smaller.

Also it's a male. Here's some info on them.

Thankyou the pic from Cornell looks exactly like it. I always like to get ID from someone else as sometimes the descriptions are a bit confusing. I would expect to see a red belly on this one since that it is what it is called, yet I didn't see one. I appreciate the help.

Mark this one solved Peg.. I love this bird! We have one that keeps visiting the front and back trees, but is hiding from me when trying to take a pic. You got a great one there! Hold on to it and post if and when we get a birdfiles on DG.

The red belly is hard to see, but it's there:

Sheila, this one is really camera shy too. I had to take the photo from across the yard, tha'ts why its so lousy. It was here again today eating the suet I make. I must try to get a better pic. It really has a lot of personality.

They seem to be doing their call as they climb up and down the limb. It isn't hard to spot them but sure is hard to photograph!

I think you are right Resin. This is broad barred. Only the narrow barred male Golden fronted Woodpecker has the complete red head and nape. This is our guy.
The Red bellied guy doesn't speak Spanish so does not venture into Mexico.and beyond.
