Here's my Crelle both the roo and one of these hens had it very badly.

The other hen was in isolation and never contracted the pox she has been vaccinated.

Beautiful birds! You must be a breeder?I don`t know a thing about any of the peaple on here but I see that some of you are on here a lot and your so knowlegeable about diseases and such,I feel inferior with my 9 hens and 1 rooster and only having them for a few months.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Those are beautiful birds! Harmony, you truely have your hands full.
Oops! I am turning green...ought oh!

(Zone 7b)

Thanks Green yes i'm a breeder i use to just have chickens like alot here and i really enjoyed them.
But a friend of mine showed me all about showing and the breeding and i got hooked.

I now own nothing but breeders and when the pox threatened them i was panicked for sometime.

Don't ever feel inferior everybody likes things differently i see nothing outstanding about what i do.
I mean how many people do you know that would be happy feeding , breeding and handleing the 200 or so birds i do each year

No i think people like you who have the small flocks and really enjoy them are the ones who have the brains ME with my overflowing flock and no self control I'm the crazy one

Ferndale, WA

Stunning: I say stunning, bunch of birds. That Crelle is an eye popper. I love the pic's and am so glad that most of your birds as well as yourself are doing well. Hey Harm as the risk of sounding ignorant. Just what do you do with the pigeons? Are they just pets or what, there beautiful, but I'm not sure what people raise them for. Thanks Haystack.

Social Circle, GA(Zone 8a)

They are all beautiful!

(Zone 7b)

Haystack i got a pair of owls 2 years ago and just found out how much i like them. They are quiet and raise their young with no assitence from you and they are friendly. I have just expanded from there and i now have owls and fantails and i covet Jacobins and really want some Figurita's.

Thats how i got started with doves i bought 5 white ones and proceeded to add until i now have 46 and counting.

These are some of my owls

Sorry Harm! But you have me totally confused. You show me a picture that states here are some of my owls. When I enlarge the pic, I see what looks a lot like pigeons to me, what gives? am I that stupid or am I just losing it. I once thought I knew the difference between pigeons and owls, but, now I don't know anything so please educate me. I can just see you laughing right now. Stop it and start explaining this madness. Yes they are beautiful and just what do you do with them? I mean like I eat chicken, and eggs plus I sell eggs to pay for the food bill. So thats why I raise chickens, so what about your pigeon/owls or what ever they are. Just maybe I am not losing it, maybe you are. LOL Haystack

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I think that is just the name of the breed of pigeons. But it is confusing.

Sandy

(Zone 7b)

No! nobody has lost it those are German Shield Owls "Pigeons" Sorry for the confusion most here have seen pics of these and know what they are. I talk to my pigeon friends and call them Owls so i use that term when i speak of them. I forget to take into account others don't know what they are and think i'm talking about "Owls" which i believe are illegal to have. I apologize for any confusion but in the future all you have to do is ask and i will explain anything you have a question about.

I raise Pigeons both as a hobby and i sell their young.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I looked at the pictures. There are so many crazy breed names out there I stopped being confused.
Except if you expect me to remember of pronounce Latin. I have enough trouble it English. LOL

Ferndale, WA

Thanks Harm: that little dissertation made everything quite clear. I was reading where a lot of people raise pigeons for meat, However that did not make sense to me as you seem to speak so lovingly about them. That was some of my confusion. Great for pets. They are quite beautiful. Thanks for the clarity. Haystack

(Zone 7b)

I know several people who eat them and say they are very good.
The eating ones are Modena's and White Kings these are bigger and meatier.

The Dalles, OR

Harmony, I would like to ask about the chickens, you called Porcelain. What breed of chickens are they? I absolutely love them and I would like to find some hatching eggs of these chickens in the Spring.
Any info on them is greatly appreciated.

(Zone 7b)

Copperstone I wasn't here yesterday and i'm sorry i missed your post.

Those are Old English Game Bantams in porcelain color. (the light tan hen in the front is a blue mille fleur)

There is also porcelain D'uccle bantams that come in porcelain and they have feathers on their feet.

The Dalles, OR

Thank you Harmony. I am going to see if I can get some hatching eggs this Spring. Hopefully things will be ok for me so that I can do that.
Beautiful chickens.
Copper
