My Shade/green house ins nearly done the only thing I have to do is hang the plastic. And build the benches.
I have my first sample bench done but am not happy with it. Have the other benches in and all the plants moved back. I am pooped. But I have more room which means MORE PLANTS!!!!!!! The area that it is built in is long and narrow and hard to take picture but I did get a couple and have a couple of pictures of my prototype bench.
Sandy the epi nut
It's donewill nearly done
Darn I lost the rest of the pictures. Oh well that means I have to build another one next month to show y'all
That looks fairly easy to make. How does your slat house do in high winds and hail? Thats what is stopping me from building one. I never thought of using PVC pipe. It would be a lot easier then wood.
Well I have not it long enough to see about the wind yet. And it is behind our house with a metal building to the north of it and a fairly new wooden private fence We very rarely have hail here so that is not a worry. We plan on anchoring it down before next hurricane season. But it would be easy to fixed as it is not glued but screwed together. Another reason it is screwed together I may later move it to the side yard(we are getting sewer so the side yard will be freed up) and enlarge it.
Here is the site that I get the joins that I can not buy locally. Also bought the shade cloth from here.

Thanks Wren! Have a Merry Christmas.
Your welcome, I just came in form watering every thing and the rod that is holding up the CC came crashing down. Luck I was not under it. Looks like I will have a pot of mixed colors next year. LOL Get that fixed. But it is nice to be able to see each plant and not a jammed up miss.
Have a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year
If you need something to hold it down, you can always use sandbags.
Wren, It looks great. I am sure you will really enjoy it. Your little tangering cactus looks much better now. I will try sending it out to you again after the first of the year.
Linda
that is great I will not be home from the 23 to the 29th.
very pretty. It does look orangy when you look at it closely.
In person it is clearly orange and not the orangey red one out there I think the color was affected buy the light in there. The roof is made up of alternating optic(?) or solid green and translucent gray sheets. The shade cloth on on half of the house is 69% and the other is 40% over this will go the plastic which will also cut down on the amount of light. The plastic can be rolled up. Both are hold on with clamps that clamp onto a 1" pvc pipe screwed onto the 2"
