I've never used a ham hock before, but i found a soup mix in the cabinet that i decided to make for today.
It called for a ham hock.
now the soup is just about done.... it's cooking in the Crock ... it's a Cajun Bean Soup, and i just tossed in a bunch of veggies with the beans and powdered spices ....
do i pull the meat out of the "hock" or just toss it?
i did buy some ham [a Mickelberry ham steak] that i plan to dice up and toss in.
