Can someone tell me who they buy there sponge rock from? I ordered from our nursery and it was finer then Miracle grow perlite... Roxanne sent me some very nice sponge rock so I could see what it looked like... can't get it around here... So does anyone here order it and if so from who?

TurtleChi,
I've ordered sponge rok from http://www.orchidmix.com/ on two different occasions. It's available in three sizes: #2, #3, and #4. I ordered #3 for my hoyas; it's large and chunky.

Customer service is excellent. Emails are answered promptly.

cicada - this is a great link...thanks. I have saved it to my favorites. I have ordered the giant #3 perlite (sponge rok) from teasnursery in the past.

check the prices, Goldleaf! Teas may need a telephone question?

What do you mean "a telephone question"?

I do think orchidmix.com has better prices.

I've checked other sources for sponge rok and found orchidmix.com to be the best for prices and service. They worked with me to lessen shipping charges by repackaging a two cubic foot bag of sponge rok to avoid dimensional weight charges.

Susan, I just mix the two sizes of perlite and it seems to be ok................don't throw it away.........

Oh I was not going to toss it....LOL I am tossing it in one of my large flower beds... Just a pain that it comes out the holes all the time... I am learning... and still don't have the rooting leaves down yet... Unless you can count water rooting which works for me...LOL

I killed many many strep leaves--then mrsbonnie posted her experiment--using 50% peat--50% perlite. She said she didn't water them but only misted them several times daily. I tried it her way and now have babies ^_^
OOPS posted this to the wrong thread--don't ask me how-- at least I can post pictures now;)
