I do not post on this forum very often but lurk quite a bit. Just thought I would pass along an idea to everyone. The local Humane Society shelter here has both an "adopt a kennel" program throughout the year and a "pet packages" program during the holidays.
The adopt a kennel program is great for people like me that currently have a full house. If you cannot take in another furry/feathered family member they allow you to adopt the kennel that they live in while in the shelter. You can donate the cost of taking care of one animal for a day, week or month and they put a card with your name on the kennel and the dates that you have "adopted" it.
The pet packages program consists of holiday bags (most for dogs and cats) that have toys, treats and merchant coupons in them. They have various prices depending on the size of the bag. My guys generally end up getting several of these because I cannot wait to give them out once I get home.
Anyway, 'tis the season to support good causes and what could be better than taking care of the furbabies? Look around where you live and see if some of the shelters and rescue organizations may have similar programs.
