Today at the Indian River Lagoon, FL.

I went to see the "snowbird" White Pelicans today.

This one didn't want to get its feet wet. With the brisk wind, it was quite chilly.

This immature Brown Pelican was quite photogenic. When I looked at the photos, I discovered that this bird had a band on its leg (not visable in this particular photo), so it might have been a rehabilitated bird. The Marine Science Center, which is in Ponce Inlet, across the Indian Lagoon, has a Sea Bird Rehabilitation Center. It was hanging around Goodrich's Fish Camp at lunch time, perhaps waiting for someone to toss it some scraps.

On the way home, I passed Sandhill Cranes in a cattle pasture. Good thing I had my camera handy.

They were turning over cow patties, looking for good things to eat.

I just passed a corner last week, you could have heard it a mile away, sandhill cranes everywhere. It really was a sight. Apparently a migrating stop every year.

Headed to Indialantic for a few days on the Indian River myself. Home

Everyone be safe!
