Just when you thought you couldn't get enough of Koi fish! IC posted a link to a Pond shop in Iowa that created this (I don't know what you would call it-but it is cool). Feed your koi, stroke the water and it all interacts. Disease not included . . . Thank God for that!
Koi for your iphone/iPod-interactive and you feed them!
Okay, so am I the only dork who would be nerdy enough to be interested in this???
No! I wont go near that application because I would never get anything done.
lol....I've had this on my iphone for about 6 months....it SAVES us when we're out to dinner with our 3 yr old grandson....once he gets squirmy, I just turn it on, hand him my phone and let him make ripples in the water all night, while the koi swim by.... not a dork, not a nerd, you are a person of high intelligence who understands why once again, we all need koi in our lives, one way or the other...
:D
I just "overfed" my Christmas scene Koi the candy canes and the gingerbread men. I also think I saw one flashing . . .
Oh, shoot, my iPhone deicer just broke. . .
Oh stop already! You guys are having too much fun.
For 99 cents, it is a toy that will keep my 6 year old entertained for hours . . . (me too!)
I'm hoping my return to Ohio for the holidays will be snowy...but I don't feel very confident at this point....
We're getting a good snowfall here right now in NW Ohio. Jingle bells!
Blizzard conditions here in Chicago. A normally 40 minute ride in the car took me 3.5 hours tonight. Exhausting!
We had four inches yesterday and expect about that much tomorrow with an ICE STORM thrown in for variety. My normally 25 minute commute took almost an hour.
I need to buy red tape tonight to set out between stakes (already have those - leftovers from setting up anti-rabbit fencing around my conifers) for the utility company to assess my planned pond area for next year. This is spot #3 now - I don't know where I'm going to put the thing if it turns out there are utilities in that area. Might be back to the dog yard.
I slipped off my steep driveway into a ditch (halfway). It took a tow truck nearly 2 hours to set my car free. opps!
Oh sheesh! Chicago winters are said to be brutul. We got 5" of snow last night. Tomorrow night we're forecasted to have a bad ice storm. The fun never stops!
I think we're all sharing the same storm system for this upcoming doozy.
Ice storm here is supposed to start at 3:00 p.m., followed by 7-10" of snow and sleet! I'm really going to get my money's worth out of my snowthrower this winter, it will be the third time I've used it just this season!!!
My son in law is a true Floridian, has never seen snow...so we're keeing our fingers crossed. Columbus doesn't get as much as the NE part of Ohio where I grew up...but maybe Santa is listening. ;)
IC. The storm is supposed to hit my area at 4pm (an hour after you-that snow travels fast . . .)
Well, I hope they come up with this app for the Google G1 phone. That's cute!
Hi gardenwife!-I don't recall seeing your name around the water garden section. Do you have a pond or water feature? Tell me more!
Big bummer. Schools are already closed for tomorrow and the snow hasn't even fallen yet. they cancelled school at 10pm tonight. What if the forecast is wrong? Then I am stuck with two boys home from school. Let the holiday fights begin! LOL Nintendo is a modern mother's helper like I understand Valium was in the 1950's . . .
Hi, there! Yes, my husband and I have had a small pond by our patio for about eight years. It's only about 140 gallons, and we keep sarassa comets. The last few winters, we've seen babies come early spring. So fun. =) Plant-wise, we have parrot feather, anacharis and hardy water lily; this past summer we had the usual water hyacinth and a beautiful dwarf papyrus called King Tut, I think.
I had that Kind Tut plant also. I bought three of them and am trying to keep it alive over the winter. I have it in my dogs room and they have chewed it a little and the doggie doorway out makes it a little too chilly for the plant but so far so good-it is still living. Do you toss your plant at the end of Summer/fall or do you overwinter it somewhere? They where such expensive plants I couldn't bear to toss them. I put all three of mine into a large container with a cup-2 cups of that soil moist product (to get it on the wet side) and regular dirt. The soil moist is working pretty well.
I was going to cut it back and put it in the bottom of the pond just to see if it overwintered. We use a stock tank heater in our pond. I forgot to get the plant in before it was too late. Well, since it was $8 for a full 8" pot where I got it, I'll just get another one next year. Next year, I will at least try to take starts from it and use WaterSorb (same type of product as SoilMoist) for it.
$8.00? We are getting robbed in my neck of the woods-I need your source. I believe mine was $21.00 a piece.
I have the umbrella palm in my pond, and will happily send you some come spring! Remind me!
:)
I will take any plant handouts!!!! Thanks Mary! Wait until Spring otherwise it will die in transit with out cold. Yipee! Free plants! Let me pay the postage please!
I might just take you up on that. I'll keep this thread watched! Thanks! :)
