Pink Ring Neck Dove for Dahlia

(Zone 7b)

http://wwingsaviary.lbbhost.com/AviaryPages/ColorPink.html Heres a ring neck dove in pink and pink refers to a slight pink coloring to the bird. I want to know the genetics of this one so i can breed them.
I couldn't find a ring neck pink pigeon.

The Dove in the pic is a Rosey Ring Neck

Ooooh, I love the rosey ring neck!

My mistake, they were doves not pigeons. The 2nd one is exactly them. So they did misname them right? They should have called them "Wild Colour Ring Neck Doves". They don't even look like they're from the same fam with the different beak and wing forms. HA! I never liked this store but I've had to use them for the last couple of months til I can another source who carry the 'senior' food that my crazy ole cat needs now. Very prettiful doves that were sooooo worth lingering over. I was hoping they would coo. They were very active and looked at me alot while I was lingering. I think that means that I'm supposed to have doves in my life ^_^

O sorry forgot to say thanks Harmony.

If i might ask how much were they asking for them?

Claire i still have the Rosey one and she has 3 siblings i hope to work on perfecting these.

Dalhia if you ever need a dove ID i'm the one to ask and i probably have a pic too

Like I looked at the price oops. Sorry I just got enthralled. I will phone tomorrow and ask. Bet they are pricey. This is not a good store and I personally would question where they got these luvly luvly doves (which have now bonded with me so should come and live with me) I know you're the Queen of Doves Harmony which is why I went OT on the other thread. I knew you would know. I sure hope Dave can fix the search feature soon so we don't have to go OT :(

Doves make good pets and some people have them in large parrot cages indoors. Just don't get a lone male he will coo constantly for a female. I would say a female would be a good pet they aren't as noisey as the males.
Now if you get a pair they will have babys you can't stop them from doing it. If forced they will lay on the cage bottom and hatch eggs they are determined breeders.

My Diamonds i took their egg just tuesday and today they were mateing they don't give up.

WOW! I was at a pet store and there was a lone dove in one of those tiny cages. It bothered me for a long time so the next time i went back to see if it was still there.(yes i was going to buy it($20)
Well there was a big sign and no birds and the sign said all birds were quarentined due to sickness.
I ask one of the employees and she said oh the dove died it had respitory and gave it to all the other birds.
YIKES!! if i had bought that bird it could have wiped out all my birds

That is too scary to think of Harmony!!! I wouldn't buy a living thing from this store although I've been thinking about Dominick and Delilah all morning sigh. I would like to foster rescues when I fully retire although I don't know if they will let me do it because I don't have any hands on experience with any domesticated birds other than finches. I can study but that's not the same as hands on experience. I'm learning sooooo much from you funny friends here though that it might tip the scales in my favour ^_^

Oh you should talk to Claire about being a foster rescue she doe's those thats where she gets alot of her animals.

I've done a lot of greyhound fostering for the local greyhound adoption group, and also kittens for the local shelter (before I had a greyhound). I enjoy fostering but I don't seem to have as much time for it right now due to full time work plus part time school. However, I would like to do it again in future. Letting them go to a new family is the hardest part. My current greyhound is a "failed foster" because I could not give him up! Fostering birds would be interesting.

Poor baby, taking responsibility for your failure to do....;-p

You are a true angel Claire. The commitment for dogs and cats here which I will also do is four months. As we will be snowbirds that will work more than just fine as we will be home for 7 months. I don't know how long the commitment here is for birds. I know giving them up is going to be REALLY hard but I will just have to keep thinking of the luvly new homes they are going to and how happy they will be.
