Castor Bean, Caster Oil Plant, Mole Bean, Higuera Infernal (Ricinus communis)

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Your images aren't the 'Carmencita', which has red blooms, not plum. The leaves aren't a reddish plum either, they are more of a combo of burgundy when emerging and maturing to a green.

Are there any thoughts on this? If the photos are misidentified, we can move them to the correct entry if we can determine what the correct identity is. If they are not misidentified, please let us know about the burgundy leaves. Is this new growth?

alrighty - it is a red castor bean - cultivar unknown

Thanks! Hopefully someone will know what cultivar has burgundy leaves and red blooms so we can move the photos to the correct entry, rather than remove the photos for lack of positive ID.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm bumping this back to the top. Sorry.

Does anyone know what entry these photos could be moved to? We really would like to move them to the correct entry rather than remove them for lack of positive ID.

Or would it be appropriate to move the photos to the species entry? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/215066/ Does the plant in the photos appear to be of the straight species, or do they show some hybrid characteristics?

Thanks!

The photos have been moved to the species entry. If anyone knows that this is incorrect, please let us know what cultivar they be of.
