cuckoo marans feet

Oxford Mills, Canada

I just came back from the coop and noticed that my 3 maran girls all have the same thing going on and I am not sure if this is normal or not. There legs in the past were a greying color but their feet seem to have lost that color and are pink. I am wondering if it's because it's cold and they were standing in their water? They are not having any problems walking around or standing but I don't recall seeing this on them before and it has been cold lately, was -26 the other night but they were in their insulated coop with hay over the shavings to keep them warm. HELP

Jack Frost? Are you able to handle them and feel what the skin is like? Might it be like a cold burn? Like we get red fingers and cheeks after too much exposure?

Hi MB! Your comment got me going, so I went out and looked at my Marans feet and all of them are yellowish with a hint of gray. Not sure what type of marans you have? But mine are the Cuckoo's. Hope this helps.

They seem to fine except I never noticed the pinkish feet. No swelling or anything. There legs have no yellow. They are Cuckoo Marans but look like Barred Rock but are much darker. They seem fine. I am thinking their feet were cold. They aren't the easiest things to catch, they are quite standofish compared to my Ameraucana who basically beg to be picked-up and carried around, lol.
