I just got a Salton 1 qt. yogurt maker to aid in my effort to eat healthier and to enjoy my homegrown fruits with it. I did lots of research and read many glowing reviews which convinced me it was the easiest and best value.
There is a tag that says "Warning: The power cord on this product contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling". This product was made in China. Since it has no on/off switch it will have to be handled twice to use it.
I've never seen a tag like this before. I look around and I'm sure there are several dozen corded appliances in my house. Do they all contain lead? Is this something new? Is this yet another case of the Chinese trying to slip us some *&^%? Is this necessary? If California knows it, why don't the other states know it. Evidently the tag makes this just hunky dory. I thought there was some federal regulations to prevent lead exposure in household products. I ask you who washes their hands every time they handle a cord? Probably only those afflicted with OCD.
I'm PO over this. What do you think about it?
Lead in unexpected places?
