Haystack

Kent, WA

Haystack,
Fuzzychicken and I are thinking of making a trip up north to bring you our silkie roo. Probably monday the 22nd when fuzzy is out of school so she can come with me. What do you think?

Ferndale, WA

Hi there KarBear 71: That would be most excellent. Just let me know the details, I an very flexible so make it convenient for yourself. Nice to hear from you. Haystack.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Karbear - when you are there, teach Haystack how to upload photos onto his computer and put them onto DG!!!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

haha! yes, definitely teach him!

Clarkson, KY

Now, we could claim this is collusion -DG chickenheads everywhere plotting and scheming -Naaw, who'd believe...(more like don't steal their thunder -it's real! Go get 'im guys!!)

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

And wouldnt it be great for the 1st picture to upload a pic of you all meeting up.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Yes! I want to see Haystacks pics of his hatchlings! (there was one or two right?) They must be getting big.
Hello Haystack!

Ferndale, WA

Hello yourself sewincircle: You guy's are just to much. Always plotting, and yes C Moxon I was going to ask her to show me how to do this picture thing. I told you I was to dense for this electronic stuff. Surely I would not know what to do with you all, you inspire me with your pic's, fill me with your knowledge, and OH YES, then their is your colusion. AND have I ever told you I love your craziness. Haystack

Clarkson, KY

Of course computer proximity and real proximity, well.... Karbear's better behaved than some of us, lol!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Plot Plot...Plan Plan...Always a good thing going on.
Maybe a bit crazy...
How are the babies?

Ferndale, WA

sewincircle: The babies are doing great, they are so cute. I have them in the spare bedroom, I also have two large male black cats, they sit in fromt of the brooder and watch the two chicks and you can just see them saying "hmmm I want one, I want one. (NOT) I love watching them run helter skelter and suddenly fall over asleep. When they go out its so fast. Wished I could fall asleep that fast.

Big Lake, MN(Zone 4a)

Haystack did you ever find the right cord for attaching the camera to the PC? Would hate Karbear to be all ready to show you how to do the pics only to find no cord available. You probably sorted this out with Claire already. Last post I remember said she would contact you regarding the correct cord.

Kent, WA

Everyone here is too funny!
Of course, I will show you Haystack how to post pictures if you like!

One of our chickens has not been around for a few days. Tomorrow after work Miranda and I are going scouting out to find her. She either is in the barn or greenhouse setting on eggs somewhere. I hate to tell her this but we don't need any more baby chicks!!! She is funny when we find her setting ( almost every 4-6 months) she usually has 15+ eggs...

Ferndale, WA

Not sure Surreybrit! The cord my wife showed me that came with her camera does not sound or look like the cord that Cmoxon showed me so I' m nor sure my wife has the right cord or not. When Karbear gets here maybe she can fill me in or at least write down the process. This stuff makes my head spin. Karbear where are you Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp. Haystack

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Haystack, I miss having the little ones. I remember crying when we had our first chicks here. I thought one was dying! It just fell over and was limp. It was sound asleep in an instant like you said! I was also a bit upset when I thought one was having seizures. It was not. It was rubbing its feathers on the soft blanket I had out! Pheww! I was always so stressed out thinking they were going to get broken on my watch! They lived though. So far every chick I have hand raised as my own has been a roo! Not very good luck here. I would really like to have a hen to hand raise for once! Maybe I will let someone else pic it out for me!

Ferndale, WA

Hey Sewincircle: It's always so good to hear from you. When you first came to this forum, I laughed and told my wife it was good to have a youngster on the forum. Then your daughter (Bless her heart) came on the forum and I told my wife oop's now here's the real youngster. You get so excited I thought you were just a kid? You are (at least at heart). I have so enjoyed your enthusiasm. I have a little female lakenvelder sitting on my lap right now so just reach out and take her and raise her. I'm going to re-name her (sewincircle). When I am able to (with some help) post pic's I will take a pic of her and post it just for you. She is a beautiful bird, as soon as my customers see her they want to buy her. She's not for sale. I really am partial to her as well as one of my crevecoeurs. Always Haystack

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks, you have made my day! I do enjoy being here with all you chicken lovers! I have such a good time with our chickens. I look forward everyday to going out and seeing them. Imagine me when I got the first egg! :O! I am honored that you would name your hen after me! I am feeling the love. I hope you can figure out the picture thing. It is tricky. Maybe you can be my great uncle Haystack and your wife can be my great aunt Haystack! weeeeee! I will have to look up those breeds of chickens. I have heard of the first one but the other I have never even heard of. Thanks for putting a big fat smile on my face! Have a wonderful night! jeanmarie

Hi Haystack,

I'm not that good with these cameras either, but I'll tell you what I think I know.

You put your pictures into a folder somewhere. I make a folder on my desktop and name it "pictures" sometimes, or I put them in "my documents" under "my pictures". It doesn't really matter, as long as you know where they are and can find them.

Then, when you get on here, you go to where it says IMAGE, on the bottom of this page, and click on BROWSE and find your picture folder and the picture you've selected.

As far as the camera cord goes, that happened to me too. My daughter lost it, or more precisely one of her friends lost it. My camera also has a memory card in it, so I was able to buy a CARD READER at walmart for $20. I think it reads 4 different kinds of these memory cards. If your camera has a memory card, you might be able to do that too. The man at Walmart was so helpful, he knew I didn't know anything about all this stuff. He said it's good for cell phone pictures too. Anyway, the same principle applies, put the pictures somewhere you can find them.

That's the best I can do, and about all I know about them. Myself, I need a new camera, as the little door that holds my batteries has broken and won't stay closed. I was thinking of trying to tape it.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Light_for_ Jesus, sounds like a tape job for the camera! I have had to do that a few times! Its fine until you need new batteries. :)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Haystack good to see you and your DW finally came out of the hall closet. This is the cord that came with my camera. The littlest thingamajiggy thats by itself on one end of the cord fits in the camera and the flatter one (where there are the white and yellow thingamajiggys that I have no idea about) fits in the puter (I just tried it everywhere til there was a fit). Once both are plugged in I turn the camera on and it goes 'Peep' and then the camera program (which instantly went into my computer when I put the disc thing in the little pop out tray) will ask you questions and then TADA! Browse button beneath your message will let you add the picture from your Picture file... I wonder should I be working for Microsoft? I'm getting pretty good at this techy stuff.

Sounds like me talking to those service people over in India.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Yupper this is the girl who will probably blow up PF ^_^ You can imagine how much the hardware store people luv me ^_^ I've finally learned to bring the thingamajiggy with me for my consultations.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I can never remember the name of things. I know a lot about how a car engine works but can not remember the name of the thingamajiggies, or the whatucallit. I also know a lot about tools and if you really want to scare a man at the hardware stored just know the right name for a tool.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Don't forget doohickies wren. There are alot of doohickies in our modern techie lives. I accidently dropped a coffee bean into one of the doohickie gas jet things on the stove. 'No worries' I thought, it will melt. NOT! Pretty pricey misunderstanding of that doohickie.

Ferndale, WA

Thanks light for Jesus: I am so glad for your light for our Master. Now if you read the later comments on this thread then you already know that you and I must pray for Dahlianut and Wren for they have truly lost it. Ha Haa. By the way Dahlia nut thanks for the picture of that connection cord from your camera. It is indeed the same as the one that my wife got with her camera. My problem is I cannot find a place to connect it to the computer. I'm sure Karbear will have the answer when she comes up here with my roo. OH and wren you and Dahlianut forgot the thing a mubob. You guys are truly a rip.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Try the SIDE of the puter haystack. I fiddled around with the back for the longest time. I'm sure Karbear will have the correct techie solution though. O ya the thing-a-mubob. Good point. That broke on my furnace.

Kent, WA

I bet we can figure it out. Not that I am great with the computer by any means but I can get by.

I did search for our hen after work today and could not find where she is setting. Not in her spot in the green house where she last set or not in the barn in the hay so I don't know where she is. She will pop up one day with a bunch of chicks I bet. I did let the guineas out in the coop to fly around a bit with the older chickens today. That was fun and boy can they fly!

Ferndale, WA

KarBear you really had me going for a moment. When you first said guineas just momentarily I thought you had guinea pigs. can they fly? duh guinea hen's dummy. Right! I knew that. OH My Gosh......... I need some sleep. see ya. Haystack.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Haystack I need all the help I can get. I lost it a long time ago, along with 2or three pair of glasses and a lot of other thingubobs that put into the whatsucallthem on top of the doohickee.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

They are probably in the whirlymagig!

(Zone 7b)

Look for the Whatchamacallit

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh I never thought of looking there.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Thats what we are here for. LOL

Moxee, WA(Zone 4a)

Dahlianut, Many of the tech solution jobs outsourced by Microsoft are in India. Hows does $25 / day wages sound to you? That's more than 10 times the average daily wage in India but still is awful for a Canadian. Those jobs go to 4 yr of college or more individuals with degrees.

You have yet to tell me what perennials flowers you have the most success with up there in Calgary. If you can grow them there ... I can probably do so here. Kelly

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

eeeek! Isn't that awful when they make billions :( O did you ask me about perenials Photographer? sorry. Many, many. I will dmail you a list of my favs. I just looked up Moxee. What a luvly place!!! Googleguy says its ranked very high as a place to live in WA. Is it really dry there? I thought you would get good moisture because you're on the other side of the big rocks but gooleguy says its dry?

Moxee, WA(Zone 4a)

dahlianut, googleguy is correct about the dry desert like conditions. Moxee is on the dry side (east) of the Cascade Mountains. We get ONLY 9 inches of annual rainfall. Water is never an issue unless I'm forgetful. My front porch is 100 ft from the lowest point in the valley where there's a small stream .... flowing west ... 1/2 mile along our south property border. We basically have an unlimited supply of above ground irrigation water. We have a pump & downhill flow irrigation. I can pump water 24/7 during the year for the animals and the lawn-gardens if needed. Kelly

Hey Kelly!
Got room for a family that's lookin' to live off the land? My DH had to drag me out of Pullman when I graduated from college... I LOVE it on that side of the mountains!

Moxee, WA(Zone 4a)

Lazzy_Ladies,

I went to grade school in Vancouver ... I prefer the dry weather vs the wet in your area. My wife would rather we were there. To every ying ... there's a yang. She's from Japan so not quite a yang.

Kelly

Clarkson, KY

Then she's a Yoh!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Photographer come on over and join in on the Rocky Mountain Forum ^_^. We have lots of participants who are in similar conditions to yours and have great plant recommendations. A couple are fairly close to you geographically too I think. Good thing you have a stream!!!
