hp 9000 series hinge problem

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

I've had a problem with my hinge breaking and found a website that was trying to deal with HP to fix it. It has a design flaw. I wrote to the exec. office and the finally agreed to fix mine 6 weeks ago. I was emailed this by this website. HP does not make these easy to find. They have agreed to a one time fix on the 9000 series computers. The left hinge has a flaw. It starts out by making a popping or crackling noise. And will eventually crack up the side of the monitor. Mine will not shut properly and will not go into sleep mode. Lots of problems. The window for the fix is only until the end of May 2009. They have a list for the affected computers. Here is the information: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c01611512

There is also an issue with HP computers overheating and the motherboards crashing. It usually starts off as the computer not being able to recognize the wireless networks and then eventually won't turn on at all. This happened to my husbands computer. His is an AMD. Mine is an intell. Mine is not covered, his was. Here is the link to that problem: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us&product=3224049&dlc=en&lang=en

Also, there is an issue with Nvidia cards in these computers. Here is an article that I thought you might find interesting. I've been pretty peeeeeturbed with all of this so far. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13554_3-10020782-33.html?tag=mncol;tback
