Hello & Rose Question.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Hi everyone I had asked this on the FL forum, but f4f thought some of you here would have some good ideas .So I am hoping you can help me, with any ideas or suggestions. .

Original post: Sort of plant question for you all. . I had my Gt Dane cremated, and will get her ashes tommorow. I will be putting them in the garden and wanted to have a rose on her grave. Her name was Gypsy so I have looked at the Gypsy ... roses in plant files, but not sure how they would do here ,

Or has anyone tried the Peace roses in FL?

Sorry to hear about your Great Dane--I think that's great that you want to honor her with a rose. Your links didn't come through though--can you repost? You also might also try posting in the rose forum, they're more likely to know which ones would do best in your climate.

fleur - my heart goes out to your loss...I"m so sorry. You'll need to pull those links up and copy and paste again...on DG you can't copy from another thread the links you provided in the original thread they won't transfer correctly. ecrane's idea about the rose forum is a good one for advice on those pretties.

My Mom lives down in Boynton Beach and had such trouble getting roses to do well. I found this site http://www.coolroses.com/ and ordered a few--she is immensely happy that they've done so well.

Losing a cherished pet is devastating, but I think planting a rose is a nice remembrance. We don't have those particular roses, but the ones we have, including tea roses, do very well here. They seem not to be bothered by the heat and bloom almost year-round. A little black spot and an occasional nibble from a bug seem to be the only issues.

hello, found this lovely rose for your memorial. http://www.helpmefind.com/roses/pl.php?n=3141

we rose maniacs frequently visit http://www.helpmefind.com/roses. If you go there and do a search for roses named Gypsy, you will find more than one. But focus on the ones that are commercially available. They even have a tab where you can see who sells it.
