CLOSED: Another montana mystery

Fox Island, WA(Zone 8b)

From my trip in September - I saw this one in the Eastern part of Glacier nat. park flying across the trail and landing in some trees. We were at least 4,000 feet up or higher. It was roughly the size of a mockingbird - although its been 3 months since I saw it so I may be wrong! I have NO IDEA, not even a guess, so good luck!

One of the Catharus thrushes, but sorry, no way of saying which, with this photo (they're bad enough even with crystal-sharp pics!)

Good guess I just was looking at the thrushes and I think that is a match

Hard to say, but it looks like a juvenile American Robin to me

I could see that..... it is a thrush (but in a different family)

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

Same family, different genus. Turdidae is the family of thrushes, and Turdus (including robins), Catharus, and others are genera (genuses) of thrushes.

But it looks like it has a reddish breast, and the white around the eye and neck look like a young robin. The songs are a big help ID'ing all the thrushes, because they are so similar in appearance.

Yep, American Robin is a good possibility

I was really hoping for something a bit rarer :)

You could go back for another visit now, and maybe see some boreal species at the southern end of their range... I just looked it up, it's warmer there now than it is here! Lots more snow, though. lol

Really?? Wow I thought for sure they would be under 20 feet of snow by now, LOL

I would love to go back - wanna cover my plane ticket?? HA HA
